Halogens changed to original Xenons - fitted and working

Yeah, just found out, as rang local garage.

There is a blank to insert the headlight washer motor, so will see if this is a standard size, as they are wanting £36.72 + VAT for the motor, or alternatively I can get a used one (although not this one) for under a tenner from local motor factors ;)

The jets are £25 + vat each, which includes the caps to be painted, so that isn't too bad, but cheaper ones are about if not wanting the standard look.

So I reckon this can easily be done for around £70ish with the original jets, but will try a few breakers first, to see if they have any silver ones lying around.

Will be good if I can use the original bottle, as the last two conversions I did, I put in a new washer bottle for the headlights, which is no great problem, but the ones I picked up and fitted didn't have the sensor on it to tell you when you are empty

Will see what I get back from a few e-mails, as might be on the drive again...........as would be good to fit when I am fitting the parking sensors

5.5litre bottle

Great work. Its always best to stay legal and hopeful you are going to be really happy with your lights when there all sorted.

Great job for using the projector type lenses for the HID as this in itself will make a massive difference. Haven't got an Octy myself but all going well I should have OEM Xenons in the Fab Estate that Mr Lummox is (re)building :)

hello to everyone :)

this modification was also an idea of a way for having xenon lights fitted at my octavia (now i have halogen lights). now i am thinking to buy the whole-complete package of OEM xenon headlights and connect them simply with this connector . The problem is that i am not sure if after this modification and this way of connection will still have the function of the 3 different level selection of the headlights from inside the car. Does anyone have tried that with this cable to tell us if its possible?

thank you very much in advance :)

hi Stu,

Good job with the conversion.

Where did you get the headlights from for that price, i have been thinking about grafting in some projector units into my reflector units to get around the high price of the original xenon setup.

I know the legality of HIDs/retro xenon is a bone of contention and i guess best practice would be to fit headlight washers and levellers too, thought you might be interested in this link, its a self levelling kit, i know you might have put the manual adjusters but you might want this for the future.

Plus to anyone else who is looking for specific wiring stuff kufatec are worth checking out!

some cars dont have the washer jets that pop out the bumper cause when i was going to do this i was going to fit the jets from a saab as they look like normal washer jets but instead of the two jets they are a three jet system and they are high powered buy there motor for a quick blast, just an idea and colour coded would look cool,

Cheers Sweedish for the link will have a look into that.

As for the Headlights, found one on ebay for £25.00 and couldn't believe the price, as it was brand new, and a buy it now - so contacted the seller, and asked if he had the other side, and it was an actual VW/SEAT/Audi/Skoda garage, and they had had them a while, so clearing stock - so ended up with them both for £50.00

You don't get many of those bargains about! So just keep your eyes open is all I can say, as they do turn up now and then, but cheapest I have seen them was for £125.00 each. But just bought a new set of new headlights for my 5 series, the new facelifted version, for a bargain off ebay - just got to search really well - try doing mistype searches - amazing what it can bring up ;)
