Brake pads

Featured Replies

Need new pads in the front of my 04 fabia vrs... which brand is best to replace standards?

Depends on driving style. EBC greenstuff are good for spirited driving. Mintex are brilliant.

Just make sure you dont buy brakeworld pads, they are uber pants.

greenstuff are shiiittteeee

standard Skoda pads are ok, they are better than the original spec pads that come on the car from the factory

i have used some Delphi pads , seemed ok , but i burnt them out on a track day

Thumbs up for Mintex 1144's here.

Green Stuff should come with a warning that they should only be fitted to chavvy Corsas and the like, they are awful if your expecting them to justify the price and will just turn to cheese if you treat them bad.

I have had good results from Mintex pads but if your not pushing the pads I would go with standard pads and a brake fluid upgrade.

Ferodo on offer in my local auto parts... any experience of these?

What type?

The performance end of the spectrum are brilliant (DS spec) but you pay for them. I have used standard Ferrodos too before and found them fine

Dunno just told they bogt a load in and have them on offer

if they are Ferodo make sure you get the Premier range, and not the Target range

ferrodo ds 2500's on mine, done lots of trackdays on them and there i still plenty left on them, they are on the 312mm brakes but one would imagine they will be good on the 288mm standard brakes too.

My experiance:

Mintex - Will never use again, Sqeek like mad and Fade badly when pushing

Greenstuff - Are good untill you get them Warm/hot, then the fade is the worse i have seen.

Redstuff - Good with upgraded disks but fail to get to temp on the normal disks, ceramic so they take some getting used to.

Standard - To be honest were the pads I was most impressed with. Seem ok and didn't fade as quick as I thought.

EBC Standard - Seem good but over priced.

From what I have found. The worst pads I have used were the Mintex...... there just not what I was expecting and the low speed sqeek is horrid.

Before anyone says anything there fitted correctly and cleaned regular.

I live in MK the home of the roundabout. So on a quiet 1am drive homw from the GF house I have a good 8 roundabout with dual carradige way between them. So I can normaly have a QUICK drive home.

Mmmm

I am going to be going for the ZeroSixty discs and Tarox pads

We have sold loads of the Tarox pads with good results

On the Fabia vRS these are different to the usual 288`s on the VAG range to usual , so you have to be wary about them

Have fun whatever you do

I have the MIntex Extreme fitted and have never had the issues you described. They dont squeel or fade. Wonder if they have changed the compound or something? I am on the second set for the fronts now. The first pads did 15,000 miles and were fine also. This last set I fitted about a 1000 miles ago and are briliant.

whatever you do, dont put Tarox race pads on, they need quite a bit of heat to get them working, when they are red hot they are spot on but take ages to warm up

Oooh , the race pads are purly for the track really

I must admit , I would always reccomend the Strada`s

Might be the diks I have, not sure what they are but not standrd ones.

It might be that, as I use normal discs with the Mintex pads.

I have to agree here - Don't use Green Stuff....

I took Decrons advice a while back and used the standard pads and just a brake fluid upgrade - Worked a treat. They never let me down.
