Rear Calipers for an 02 4X4 1.8t estate.

Featured Replies

Thanks for looking.

My amateur mechanic son changed my rear pads a couple of months back

How delighted was I to find out at the MOT that he had forced the rear calipers back instead of winding them - knackering them. Result = failed! :pants:

So the $64k question is... can they be overhalled with a service kit or do they need replaced?

If they need replaced, anybody know a decent source? I've tried a few google searches to no effect. What I have been able to find are... rear calipers from an 02 octavia tdi and new rear calipers for an A3 1.8t quattro. Are either of these the same?

Many thanks.

It's so long ago that I can't remember, but I might have a spare set of the calipers. Does anyone know whether, when I fitted the R32 brakes to the back of my 4x4, I would have had to replace the calipers (in which case I have a spare pair you can have :)) or whether I'd have used the originals?

If you did have them, that would be ace!

Hi

The only crossover rear 4x4 calipers are Audi A3 Quatt ;)

Give us a call in the new year if you are still stuck.

Have a great new year.

I've got a set of rear calipers and carriers from my 2001 Octi 4x4 estate if you get stuck too.

I've remembered why I "upgraded": one of my OEM calipers had a tendancy to stick, so you're better off with Simon's offer! Sorry...

Has the A3 Quatt ones got a larger braking area?

Bump!!!

Has the A3 Quatt ones got a larger braking area?

According to ETOS the A3 6 cylinder quattro has 310x22mm vented rear discs but if they would be a straight swap on a 4x4 Octavia I don't know.

Thanks Simon.

Anybody got an answer to the above?

I had to replace one of my rear calipers on the vRS. £150, or £120 without it being painted...

I couldn't find any cheaper ones :(

With what, A3 Quattro stuff?

The standard skoda calipers.
