Haynes Manual - what's the difference?

Featured Replies

Yes, it's me with another ditsy question :P

What's the difference between these two Haynes manuals? One says it's for 1995 - 1999, and the other says it's 1995 - 2001? Has confused me a bit - mine is a T-reg 1999 model - and I want to make sure I get the right one if I end up eBaying it...

Haynes Manual 3505 Skoda Felicia 1995-1999 (M to T Reg) on eBay, also Skoda Workshop Manuals, Skoda, Car Manuals Literature, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 11-Jan-09 17:48:26 GMT)

Haynes Manual - Skoda Felicia 1995> 2001 on eBay, also Skoda Workshop Manuals, Skoda, Car Manuals Literature, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 04-Jan-09 17:01:58 GMT)

Any suggestions please?

And yes, I know there are cheaper ones on eBay - these are for examples only.

I've just looked at the Haynes website & they only list 3505 95-2001. Think it is like they did with the mini (the proper one) released one upto a certain year then updated it a few years later to cover the later models.

According to the Haynes listing:

Skoda Felicia Petrol and Diesel (95 - 01) M to X

Hatchback and Estate inc. special/limited editions, 95 - 01, M to X

Petrol: 1.3 litre (1289cc) and 1.6 litre (1598cc)

Diesel: 1.9 litre (1896cc)

Does NOT cover features specific to Van, Pick-Up and 'Fun'

Web price: £19.99

Personally given the year of your car I would go for the later one.

I got the 1995 to 2001 M to X

TBH I doubt there is that much difference between Felicias bar the facelifted ones have a grill.

I just saw this one on Ebay and bid cause I had an Ebay voucher. Then the Head Gasket went pop.

Can't believe it didn't occur to me that there would be a Haynes website My bad. :o :O Thanks for looking that up for me!

So do I.

There is no difference between facelift and "not facelift" but the bodywork.

the front end is slightly different underneath...

iirc the later haynes manual doesn't have so many wiring diagrams

Must admit anything needing 'wiring' will put me off a bit - I'd be a bit more scared of messing that up. And I did find the video I watched helped me a lot when I was doing the radio, so the more diagrams the better

Didn't they introduce MPI onto the 1.3 when the car was facelifted, prior to that SPI only???

I think the Haynes manual covers that too.

Has an sPI and MPI section.

No not really... the MPI came end of 1996 but the facelift was 1998... i know some preface lifts with MPI

IME the later one tends to drop bits, usually things like wiring diagrams and sometimes "how to dismantle your gearbox"!

  • Author

OMG I'm so not ready to consider dismantling my gearbox!!! Lost the auction for the one I had my eye on, so looking out for another...

I didn't mean you wanted to; just an idea of how critical the parts that have been dropped probably aren't to you.

The one to watch for is if the car starts whining in 5th. If that happens run a search on this forum for "5th gear nut".

And there was me thinking a 5th Gear Nut was someone who really liked the programme on TV  Seriously though, thank you ;)

Is it just me or are you slightly nuts:rofl:

You're only just realising?!!! :D :D

I noticed quick enough, but I don't think it's any sort of a bad thing! :D

  • Author

OOoooh a like-minded individual, and loving the hug ;)

Very much so, in fact to the point where I'd say that "being slightly mad" qualifies as a turn-on for me!
