un locking problems....

Featured Replies

Its one problem after another right now for me i think. I have not had any issues with the locks during my two weeks of ownership, until this morning :(. The car wont unlock with the key or from the inside!

The plipper opens the door and then within a second, they all close again. The only way i can get inside is by using the key which will only open the drivers door. The rest stay locked. If i get inside the car, it locks itself straight away. The deadlocks go on and the red light flashed. As a result i cant open the door using the handle. I have to start the car wand then open the door.

Sprayed wd40 into the lock but doesn't seem to have helped. Any ideas what could be causing it? Thanks very much. Craig

After you have unlocked the driver's door with the key, can you unlock the others by pressing the button on the driver's door panel?

My guess is there is a problem with the door lock mechanism. It could be a problem with dry joints (bad soldering) in the mechanism. This is a common problem and instructions can be found on this forum.

Other possibilities include a wiring problem (door or 'A' pillar) or the electronics of the window motor (controls window, locking, mirror, etc).

If you are really unlucky it could be the central convenience controller.

If i press the buttons inside the car doors open and then close again straight away. Is there something i can try myself to try and sort it out? Where can i find the instructions for the dry joints? I've searched but cant find it. Thanks for your help. Craig

It's good news that the drivers door panel switches work, as this narrows it down to the lock mechanism.

Take a look at the following thread.

Thanks very much. I'll give it a read and see where it gets me.
