servicing the brakes

Featured Replies

Hi I am the owner of a Skoda Octavia SDi 2003 and I would like to talk to anyone who knows their way around the brakes as I usually service brakes by removing the calipers or drums and cleaning and servicing them to stop them binding on which they all seem to do after so long. I cannot work out how to remove the front calipers although I have managed to compress the piston to free them off. Also do you have to pull the rear bearing to get the break drum off?

Any advice would be appreciated.

what calipers are on the front? If it is FS III, you need to undo a 7mm allen key bolt and then you should see how they come apart.

Dunno about the drums as I have disks on the back.

To remove rear drum, Loosen the hand brake (Behind lever in car Under the plastic trim) And undo the retaining screw on the drum if the hand brake is loosened enough the drum should pull off with little resistance. The Drum comes off with out the bearing or hub. Just the outer drum will come off.

If you need any more help or info about the rear just ask.

The front calliper has an allen key at the top and bottom of the calliper.
