Turbo Life for 1,4 TDI 75ps Fabia

Featured Replies

Here's a bit more info on turbo diesels and oil changes. In a petrol engine the oil gets diluted by petrol overtime, this does not happen in a diesel engine to the same extent.

Diesel engines have very high compression rates compared to petrol engines, so the main problem is one of oil molecule anti shear strength. So the main cause of oil breakdown in diesel engines, is due the stresses on the molecule chains.

You can't change oil too often, it's that simple. Oil and filter at 10,000 miles is fine, but doing an oil only change at 5,000 miles with oil and filter at 10,000 miles is good practice, if you want to extend the life of the turbo (and engine.)

Never use a 'quick fit' company for an oil change, unless you know for certain, they are using VW505.01 spec oil on a diesel with PD injectors.

thanks friend, as i understand, we should change the oil and filter at 10,000 miles normally, but we can change the oil at 5,000 miles if we drive hard,

besides, it is not possible to drive hard with my car 1,4tdi(only 75ps), as most of your cars VRS :-)

Your welcome my friend. The 1.4Tdi is still a great car, more than enough power for everyday driving conditions. Those of us with a VRs are just quite simply MAD :D

Your diesel engine is likely to last longer than the bodywork. I've seen 1.4Tdi engines with 250,000 miles on them, and they are still running nicely.
