Today when I had my car at the dealer seeing about the poor radio reception I bought a set of Mudflaps for the rear of my Octavia VRS II.

Part No: KEA600001. £14.69 inc vat.

These are not meant for a VRS so I put them in a bucket of warm water to help them fit around the bumper.

A few self tappers and they were on easy.

I'm not 100% sure I like them as I feel they stick out to the side slightly too much. What do you think?

I saw a picture of them on a Blue one thats what made me get them. They looked fine in the picture I saw.

Really like that -

I'd get the flaps moulded to fill those gaps better otherwise you'll get all kind of dirt etc down there which may lead to premature corrossion.

I actually meant the front ones although to be fair I could only see a gap on the rear ones but assumed it to be the case on the fronts too.

the fronts are fine on the vrs as they go straight on without any warming. dont know why the dealers dont know that the front ones fit ok as my dealer said they wouldnt fit as well as a mate in work (both front and back).

That might of been mine. I done some heating with a hair dryer aswell to mould them a bit tighter, its tough to get them exact (some clamps in place then heatened from inside and let cool), looking at yours if you lower the right one a little then the bottom might sit in tighter . Also easier to get at with wheel off.

On the pics you can see the deformation on mine compared to unheatened.

Btw just don't tell the missus you robbed her hair dryer, lucky for me SWMBO got a more modern one, so I had the old one .

Ahh fair enough, the fronts are no different to the vRS as its just the bumpers that differ.

Looks good, how come you didn't use the original screws?

I just used the original fixings from the arch liner to fit mine, the mudflap holes lined up with the arch liner screws.

I have front ones on mine which are dealer fitted. Service due on Saturday so gonna ask about rear ones then.

GAFF: the pictures of your heated and unheated a mega, it looks much better. Do you think if I heat it in position it will mould in better?

PETER: the reason I didn’t use the original screw is they didn't fit. The top ones lined up but the rest did not. The fronts all fit perfect, but then there supposed to be there!

I put mine on last week & with a bit of heat they look spot on , in the bag you get the torx screws and two metal clips for the last hole in the flap to screw into the felt of the wheel arch liner , a very good fit & not too expensive

I can never decide on the look of rear mudflaps. Do tend to fit front ones though

They look to need a bit more molding, so that they hug the line of the rear bumper a but more.

Reptil: To remove the badge I slid a knife covered with a cloth under the letters. I then heated the glue left with a hair dryer and peeled it off with my nails. Then polish over the area to freshen it up.

Good call Stu999 and GAFF. Doesn't look to bad on the blue at all, think i might go for a set. Got the rally flap ones for my fabia, i didn't really like them so took them back off. Your OEM ones fit really well.

IIRC on the left flap I actually tried to file a better groove. But on the right I mounted it, used a couple of clamps to clamp either side of where it attaches to the body along the length of the mudflap (hence why the wheel came off), then heated the inside and did a bit of moulding by hand to hold it in position while it cooled. I wouldn't go too mad with the heat or you might damage the paint on bumper.

Slide fishing string under it to slice off the glue. Or solid thread. Guaranteed to not damage anything. Then there are sticker and vignette remover bottles, or just concentrated alcohol to rub off the glue and a bit of polish in case there's some resin left behind, but there shouldn't be any.

non mate , i just un-screwed the torx bolts that hold the wheel arch liner in and started from the top hole in the mud-flap , lined that up then all the other holes were near enough to re-screw in with a tiny bit of fiddling to line them up

That's exactly the way I also did it smog monster, no need for extra screws or drilling.

For the rears there is an extra screw and clip provided for the inner most bottom fitting but the screw taps through the arch liner without needing a drill.
