iced up inside window...

Featured Replies

whilst we have been getting this icy weather, the inside of my front window has been iced up everyday. is this happening to anyone else with a new fabia? i did have my window replaced about 4 months ago so not sure if there is a gap that the air is getting in through or not.

Not happening with me, does happen with SWMBO's 8 year old Mk1 though. Check the carpets and panels for signs of water leaks. Do you drive round with the climate re-circ on all the time? Do you use the air-con at all? that has a de-humidifier in it, i usually drive the last couple of miles home with the aircon on.

I had this yesterday as well on a 7 yr old Mk1. No leaks present as far as I can ascertain so I just put it down to the extremely cold weather and a short journey the day before when the car would have got snow on the carpets which wouldn't have dried as the heater never got up to temperature.

hmm, shouldnt happen with a 1 year fabia though. cant see any other water leaks anywhere.

I would say there's been a problem with the new screen

yeah-thats what im thinking as well.it never done it before nor did it do it in my old fabia. is it worth me mentioning it to the garage when i go tomorrow?

Who fitted the screen?

Worth getting them to check for leaky door carriers and that the pollen filter is dry (this assumes the MK II can suffer from these issues) and any other common sources of water ingress. If not it's time for the screen to go in and out again.

It has been exceptionally cold recently though, -12 or so in some places and its not been that cold in ages. I had more ice on the inside than outside the other morning.

It's been very cold true, but don't think it should be forming ice on the inside of a new car unless there is another problem allowing water ingress. I've never had a problem with ice on the inside of mine, infact i rarely have to use the screen demister on a morning.

Any car that lives outside and gets used for short journeys is going to get some condensation inside, imho.
