Daytime Lights

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Been thinking about adding daytime driving lights to the front of my black VRS however, unsure whether this would look good or just 'chavish'.

I was looking at the Ring ones Vehicle Lighting - Accessory Lighting - Daytime Running/Daytime Styling - Ring Automotive which retail in Halfords for about £25.

Today, i had a old style Superb up my chuff that had them fitted. I accelerated away from him to view them in the mirror only for the tube to think it was a race and come up my chuffer again! From what i saw they looked dull (I've got Xenons) and crass.

Anyone fitted them, how do they look on a octavia and in general whats your thoughts on these?!

Cheers

Look kinda identical to the blues on the work cars.

Those retro-fit DLRs are the new equivlent to the Hella/Ring spots on the front of chavved up Mk2 Escorts and Cavaliers back in the 80s.

They would look total carp and not sure why anyone would want them.

lol. I have to say that's initally why i didnt go for them however, i did think that they'd fit near perfectly into the bottom grill next to the fog lamps.

I seen a guy yesterday with ones of those naff Hyundai 4X4 and he somehow fitted the new Audi LED's underneath the main lights.... The lights looked good, pity about car and job he did fitting said lights....

Think it's a good idea to have sidelights on at all times but some of DIY jobs look really really bad! I was think of fitting the Philips Blue Vision Sidelights to mine, they say "Delivers a crisp, white light for your sidelights." with "High colour temperature of light (3300 K)" are they any good? Got to better than the yellow offering my Skoda has.

James.

If you really want them, you can just turn them on volvo stylee (dipped beam) through vag-com or a dealer. If you use someone with vag-com, they need to have a can enabled lead for it to work on the Mk2 Octavia..

Another way would to just leave the light switch on either sidelights or dipped. When you turn the car off and lock the doors the lights should turn themselves off anyway.

I just have Scandinavian lights enabled full time. Works like a charm.

The most convenient thing is you don't even have to stretch for the light switch anymore. I just live with it on low beam full time. No more annoying ding when I get off, and they turn off completely with coming home.

what happens if youmove the light switch round to on position? does the focus of the xenon beam change as i was under the impression scandinavian light just lit up the xenon and the beam adjusterleveller stayed pointed down?

I'm considering chavving my car up with some LED strips.

Maybe.

those ones dont look to bad, did look at the thin led's that can be stuck to the casing of the lights so they shine into the headlamp and are away from thieving hands.

Like others I switched on Scandinavian. This allows headlight, fog light or both on.

I decided on headlight only, setting light output to 33%.

Wise, as having fogs on when not needed is illeagl, and will only land you in hot water.

If only it did, the number of Freddie Foglights around is frightening. Never seen one being stopped though...............

how do you change scandinavian to 33% i couldnt find this when i tried it in the summer (whilst bored with a laptop and ideas of things to do with the car lol)
