Cat 'D' write off

Featured Replies

I want to know wether insuring a cat 'd' write off would be any more troublesome than insuring a non-repaired car..

Basically, I have my eye on a nice car, which is cheaper than it should be, looks repaired ok, but im a little worried about any problems that a Cat 'D' might throw up..

Advice please people !!:)

had a cat d damaged car and the insurance was the same no questions asked

we once bought a written off (and repaired) renault... got it professionally inspected, and they said it was fine, but it would rust early (side damage, sill and some floor replaced)...insuring it was no different.

we kept it 5 years! only problem was, it did rust early, we had to keep having the floor and sill welded at MOT's... otherwise was ok...

some "companies/people" don't repair properly...... MUST be wary.

a friend of mine bought a celica (damaged, and not repaired) and looking at the front, the chassis legs were bent, and the car needed jigging... this was done, but it was never right... I drove it, and didn't like the handling... felt very jittery...

my friend who owned it, spun it twice, then got rid, as it frightened hime to drive it....

guess the message is, if it was bent DONT buy it.... if was just some crappy fire damage, that just needed a new interior or paintwork replacing, it will probably be fine!

Basically so long as it isn't cat A or B then you should be fine.
