General opinions on Diesel Felicias... Discuss...

Featured Replies

Picked up a 1.9d Felicia today

GLXD or something, never took much notice of it...

Im not that familiar with skodas, but i gather its a VW Vento type engine, and even has the same wheels

So, what are your opinions on said car..?

They any good?

Any good for towing?

MPG?

can this engine be easily upgraded to TDI spec with scrapyard parts?

short answer to all 4 of these questions is no...

the engine itself is largely similar to the golf/vento but there are a few subtle differences in the injection unit and immobilizer

What do you rekon Teflon next project 16v Turbo diesel with comon rail injection going for 150 ps:D:D:D

that would be some funny stuff

i bet he would though

Mine's fine on long distance runs and on motorway but I found it finnicky around town and lower speeds. It's always tended to be hesitant at first as throttle goes down then a little more movement of the accelerator and it picks up and shoots forward. Full load or high speed everything's fine and it's well over 100,000 miles on it now and still sounds the same as it ever did.

I'm a stick in the mud and have never forgiven it for not being my old 1.3 though:rolleyes:

i had it on its first major test two days ago as my jeep is out of action...

had to tow an emptry trailer 140 miles and back again with a Mk1 Golf onboard and she failed miserably....

In fairness to her, it was very good on diesel, but i had to do the whole trip in 4th gear, as sonn as it went into 5th it would die...

no poke at all

blimey, i'm sure that is far too heavy for a felicia

OMG is that legal!!!!!

the felicia is about the same weight as the mk1 golf, let alone with a sodding great trailer to.

No...

hey, ya gotta do what you gotta do....

;)

Am I right in thinking that you can't tow any more than 3/4 of the weight of the towing vehicle... maybe even less than that!

Suprised it made it without burning the clutch out... or worse still the police spotting you and you getting a nice fine!

Guessing there were no hills involved in the trip or this would have happened:

aye, would have a hard job explaining that one alright...

Have to make a trip again tomorrow and bring this thing to the scrapyard, only 5 mins away this time lucky enough :)

I know its a bit ridiculous but i have no other option at the min, my two jeeps are out of action...

There is a felicia on Ebay at the moment with a turbo fitted. I think it is at about £550 bin. It has been done profecionaly

I can see a Niva back there:)

Well spotted ya magpie!! :thumbup::D

Yeah, Niva, clutch burnt out thought shunting cars around the field :(

I had to get rid of mine, gearbox kept breaking. Great fun when it worked though.

Yeh have seen that and just looked now... 16 minutes to go and still at £550.

Looks pretty neat and profesional to me and you can't really moan at about 80hp with a nice kick for hills etc from the turbo!

Phil

I wanted to by a diesel felicia. The engine is quite powerful... The thing which prevents me from buying is the tax... over 500 € a year in Germany, and it is louder than the petrol one
