whats the best speed camera device

Featured Replies

looking at getting a new one really want a good one that has the built in sensors front and rear for real time laser detction....anyone recommend one thaat works well.....

fatherinlaw has a talex which works well but doesnt detect hand held lasers or police car laser etc etc

thankyou

The best speed camera prevention device is.................Your right foot.

Stop wearing your lead boots and stop racing Astra turbos...........................LOL

I think for many people it would be their brain....eg understanding the meaning of the word "average" as in "average speed check"; I see so many drivers slowing down for the bright yellow SPECS cameras and driving fast between them, they should have paid more attention at school.

As for devices, is there any need? Signs clearly indicate where speed checks happen.

Fixed cameras are signed, but those sneaky vans are a problem.

I'm never sure about these lazer detectors - light travels very fast (670,616,700 mph) so unless you can react and slow down to below the speed limit before the lazer gets back to the copper surely it just tells you that you've been done ?

Radar and Laser detectors are set to me made illegal again (doesn't effect SATNAV with speed camera database. Only way to defeat laser guns is not to speed. By the time you detect the beam, your nicked. Also with VASCAR there is nothing to detect, as it's all done visually with a timed distance.

If you must have a detector, the best is the Valentine One at about £500 . There is also a system called LIDAR which when fitted causes a calibration error on laser guns. Highly illegal and expensive, and if you get caught using it.............

Best detector - driver driving to as high a standard as is possible -using eyes to observe ,brain to analyse and right foot to control speed .

Radar and Laser detectors are set to me made illegal again

Have you got any info / link to support this?

I've heard it threatened for several years now, but nothing seems to happen. Just wonder its a myth perpetuated by Big Brother

Talex do hand held and the sneaky van, you just have to update weekly at novus gps.

I think you'll find that sound travels at 700mph and light travels at 300,000 metres per second.

I used to use a Road angel which was very good and recently a Snooper S4neo. Both are supposed to detect mobile cameras but never did for me. Luckily I saw the camera in time and saved myself points. Except for one occasion that is. I now use a Tomtom with pocketGPS camera database. Still not 100% but what will be??

Don't the vans only operate in signed areas as well?

Source is from local Traffic Police and people in the trade who supply said devices. They used to be illegal under the Wireless and Telegraphy act, until a single case changed all that. I believe they will now be illegal under new version of the RTA.

please everyone has gone off topic lol so you guys all stick to the speed limit everywhere you go??? I DONT THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as for you beretta i was only doing 70mph lol

if you havent got any info on a good product please dont bother posting it is a waist of my time reading all the helpful posts lol

p.s i have removed that lead from tyhe shoe:thumbup:

Sort of true as there as so many speed camera warning signs. However the Police are under no obligation to operate only where sings are posted, as it's illegal to exceed the posted speed limit anywhere. The only get out of jail cards, are where posted speed signs are obscured or missing, or if the equipment used is not calibrated correctly, or used incorrectly. Hand held devices must be held still when taking a reading, as any movement of the device to track a vehicle gives false readings.

Best detector - driver driving to as high a standard as is possible -using eyes to observe ,brain to analyse and right foot to control speed .

cant do that im young and inexperienced so i just nail it all the time without watching ahead...!!!!!!!!!!

please tell me why class one drivers use these products then?? just because your car dont do above 70mph mine does:rofl:

Best speed camera detector = experience.

If you know the road and drive it often enough to be able to creep past the speed limit on the odd occasion without compromising safety, you'll know where the camera spots are. ;)

OK so you need a Valentine One then.

nope there is one down newgale that a lot of the boyzs seem to get their pic taken lol

no sign to warn just the sign on the back door. the fact you can see it from the top of the hill should be enough but they still get cought lol

serves them right for not bein observant enough.

the guarage door thing that jams the hand held guns is ILLEGAL unless you can prove you have them for your doors. if not you will be done for Obstruction. that might of been said in the thread for it lol.

Best thin is dont speed, it is not worth it, again I was lucky and got 6 points and £335 fine with £75 costs for doing 63 in 30. should of lost my ticket. It was excesive and never norm do it but was quiate at the time and just wanted to go home as was a ****ty week at work.

use ur head is the best way of not gettin flashed.

billy

tomtom is ok but cant be totally accurate as it depends on what other ppl have put in to the system. cant see anything bein good enough to get the guns as soon as it is pointin at you you are scrood mate.

That the one that parks on the pebbles just before the long straight with the Duke of Ediburgh on the right and side?

Pretty difficult to miss if you ask me!

Only know the area because the girlfriends' family has a caravan at the caravan park (Matthew Baker Caravans).

Lovely area of Wales!

all well and good if in a area you no buggerd if not

Actually I think the camera detectors are useful on motorways though it begs the question - if the alarm goes off and you are being targeted and are travelling over 75 or so mph, what are you going to do?

In my opinion it's a lot better to swallow your pride and have 3pts and a fine than to slam your braks on and cause a multi-vehicle pile up ;)

Trick that comes from experience is to know where and when you can exercise you're right foot .Just because it's only a titchy little 1.4td -doesent mean it can't exceed NSL or that I am one ofthe goodies creeping long at less than the limit .Fact that I don't (touch wood) get nobbled is down to exercising those principles .(And keeping my eyes peeled ););) (not because I'm constantly under the limit -30/40 probably ,anything else probably not ,unless I suspect a setup))
