VRS Aerial Removal

Featured Replies

Hi all, just a quick question. To remove the roof aerial on a VRS do i screw or pull? Ive had a fiddle with it but dont want to screw or pull too hard to get it out.

Thanks in advance

You will find there is a small button that needs to be held down before it will unscrew. (Anti theft) The base has a small notch at the back.

I didnt know that there was a button.

all i did with mine is screwed it off and gave it a mighty tug and it came off so i could put the honda one on.

You need to pull......hard. It might not feel like its going to come off but it will.

If you can leave it until you get a really really cold night, The aerial comes away from the base with very little effort.

To get the whole thing out you need to remove the roof trim at the back of the car, and get behind the headlining with a 22mm socket/spanner. It undoes from there, and you can remove the whole thing. Trouble is you're left with a small square hole in the roof (which can be capped, filled, and painted ;))

Just put the folding aerial onto the white fabia today, so I speak from recent experience.

I didn't wanna yank mine for fear of bending the roof... I unscrewed it as fas as it would and then kinda unscrewed/worked/wiggled it out... didn't have to pull hard at all.

I didn't notice a button either?

Rob :)

I'm toying with the idea of removing the aeril as well and tried to remove mine a few months ago but never seen a button, will have to have another look tonight, any pics of this button?

First time I've heard that one!

The unscrew / pull technique is correct; the notch is there so that you can unscrew it part-way and fold it flush against the roof if you're putting the car through a carwash or carrying something long on a roof-rack...

Re the anti theft button, my bad, it's fitted to some SEAT Leons. Seems like the Fabia one just needs a good tug  Woah, steady misses.
