Replacement for the Fabia Vrs??

Featured Replies

Hi gang, I used to be on here quite alot but then work and women took over now i'm hardly on here :(

So hi to all those that may remember me :D

Anyway, I've been toying with the idea of changing car recently.

I know i know, i'm sorry.

My all time fav would be the Seat Leon Cupra (old shape) and now i've seen one in the flesh, the new shape too

However, insurance is nasty on both these car, and indeed alot of other cars compared to the humble fabia vrs

So my question to anyone who is interested or has an opionion is::::::

What is a good trade off for the fabia Vrs is both cost of insurance/running but most inportantly, performace?

I cant think or find any new car that is around the same performance figures as the might fab.

So come briskodians! let me know what you think???

seat leon FR?

Ibiza FR TDI? How old are you? I didn't find the quotes I was getting bad at all on the old shape Leon Cupra

Fabia 1.9 tdi Sport, then chip it ;)

go for a new shape leon fr tdi. 170 horses, and it goes! or hold on till the new ibiza cupra comes out. from what ive seen it looks very nice

1/2 year old versions of:

Focus RS

Octy II VRS

Both can be had quite cheap now.

Some nice ideas, to quote chris

Fiat Grande Punto Sporting (ins gp 6!)

Not a bad car but not too sure on the styling

Focus CMAX 2.0 TDCI

urgh lol

Ibiza

Depends which modle etc etc

Polo

Cant say i've ever liked them

Kia Pro Cee'd

This doesnt come near the fab vrs for performance i didnt think??

Citroen C2 VTS HDI (ins gp 6)

cant stand the C2 lol

Corsa 1.7 CDTI

cant stand crosa's lol

With regards to the insurances i'm 24 with points but what i noticed when i first brought the fab is that because its a skoda the insurance is cheaper than any other car even if its the same engine and specs.

I did a quick quote for me on my fab, came out at £700 for names sake, I then changed the car to and from anything i could think of and like'd

Octy vrs mk1 £1100

Octy vrs mk2 £1200

Old Leon Cupra £1400

New Leon Cupra £1300

VW Sciroco GTi £1300

Astra VXR £1300

C30 SE Sports £1000

KIA ceed sports £760

KIA sr7 £620

A3 Quattro 170bhp £1000

Astra Twin Top - £800

As you can see just on a really quick glance at insurance everything is loads more expensive than the fab to insure, plus like i said above the Kia i dont think is close to the fab performance wise.

Going to look into the Leon FR now.

Its an annoying one really because I kinda want a new car, but then if i cant 'upgrade' then i'll not bother, and get a house insted lol

You not really comparing like for like though. All the above would pee all over a std Fab vRS apart from the astra TT and the Kia's.

Just did quote for the Leon FR tdi 170 and 200, they came out at £1200 and £1300 lol

The Grande Punto is 1.9 130bhp 250nm tourque but top speed of 111 as suposed to the fabs 130

Plus the insurance was at £660 so only £40 cheaper.

Thats more comparable  and the Fiat has a top of 124 mph

(1.9 Multijet Sporting 3d 0-60 9.2 s 130 bhp)

not 111mph

Sorry i should have made it more clear that i was after an 'upgrade' as such

I really want a leon, old or new but i just cant justify paying silly money again for insurance.......

So i think the next route is.......tuning?? :D:D:D:D

I'd hardly class a Fiat GP Sporting as an "upgrade" from a Fabia VRS. Having sat in a GP I felt it to be poorly made.

Just because a car is newer, doesn't make it better ;)

no i agree about the punto, its def a downgrade from the fab, and true what you say about it being newer, thats the thing though i want either a new car again or newer (less than 3 years old) or a upgraded car (ie, faster :D)

Found a quote for ht enew leon fr tdi (170) got it to be only £50 more than the fab, but then i saw the interior and cant say i like it much.

I reckon a vRS PD170 with a remap would be a nice upgrade!

Sorry i should have made it more clear that i was after an 'upgrade' as such

I wasn't recommending cars! Your point was that nothing could touch the "mighty Fab" for performance or running costs, and I suggested a handful of cars which do, and are potentially cheaper to run because of the low insurance grouping.

Chris

do you mean ST

There was a Focus RS a few years back. Front end looked like a wedge of cheese................ It also got slagged off on Top Gear by Mr Clackson

I think the point was that you'd need a DeLorean with more than a remap to buy a 1 or 2 year old FRS today ;)

As for the wedge of cheese looks, it's just a slightly stockier Focus front end  now, if you said cheese grater...:D

My quote about upgrade wasnt directect at your post mate :D lol

The cars you said are all near the fab for running cost but i dont think any are near in performance.

My point was really that the fab is great to insurance, its bloody cheap lol

must say, that auris (corolla lol) looks nice actually, off to the toyotas site now ;)
