Im new with a quick question...

Featured Replies

Hi eveyone, first off ive been lurking and gathering info from the site for a while and what a place to be, everyone seems friendly and helpful which is good:thumbup:

Ive just gone and got myself a 05 vRS and already being a member of other forums for my other toys past and present, this is the place to be for the skoda.:)

The car seems to be a little cracker but one thing that is slightly concerning is that on ignition turn on, not engine start, the fuel pump seems to be making a right noise, quite unhealthy, tho it will only do it once or twice then won't again for a while, im assuming its the pump as its coming from the rear of the car area.

Anyone else had any issues like this or is this a known fault.

Thanks in advance.

Mine does that too... I think its normal on this car? I remember reading another post about only needing to worry when you don't hear the fuel pump ;)

Do you mean the 'squelchy' noise? This is normal, and happens to all of them - but only when the fuel tank is about half-full or less!

Hi guys, thanks for the quick reply, yes its abit squelchy i suppose but quite loud and some like something isnt quite right???

Isn't that the noise what comes from the fuel pump when it puts pressure in the lining preparing the engine for ignition?

Also there is no issue with fuel delivery to the engine at all, the car runs fine:thumbup: so if this is the norm then im happy:)

My neighbor laughs when my vRS does it. Only happens when less than 1/2 a tank of diesel. Perfectly normal. Enjoy the car, and welcome.

Another vote for it being normal from me, sometimes it's really loud and sometimes it doesn't do it at all. :D

If it only makes the noise when the tank is half way or below, I'd give my vote for air getting into the linings and/or fuel pump - thus making the noise?

Nothing to worry about. Welcome, and let the modifying begin!!!!!!!

Its the fuel priming.

Does it on most PD130's across the VAG range.

Welcome along and enjoy the stay.

Excellent well thats solved that and put my mind at rest, cheers guys:thumbup: and thankyou for the warm welcome, im quite looking forward to 'tinkering' with the little car.

:thumbup::)

The words "Priming"

The words "Priming"

And some cars do that as soon as the driver's door is opened!

As my friends here have said if it is the noise that sounds like sucking up the dregs of a McDonalds Milkshake, it is normal and just the pump priming!
