Has it got a DPF?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

The other halfs Audi A3 2.0 TDi 140 (07 plate) is moaning over the oil at its minimum level. As I want to put the correct type in, I want to make sure the car does not have a DPF fitted.

Basically, how easy is it to tell if it has? Its on a long life service according to the service book.

Cheers

No Idea as the PD140 can be fitted with one in certain cases.

To be safe I'd use VW507 oil as opposed to VW506.1 as that is DPF safe.

Castrol Edge 5w30 (VW507 version), Mobile1 ESP 5w-30, Halfords own VW507 are just three that I can think of that meet the spec.

Not sure on the Audi's but the Skodas have a "7GG" code in the three letter codes in the front of the handbook.

I have a 2.0 TDI 140 Superb PD with a DPF, i was told that the oil i needed was the 505.00 or 01.

Have i been mislead?

I don't know about the superbs DPF as it's a different tech, but the other cars with DPF are all VW507 oil only regardless of the servicing plan they are on IIRC.

I'd be a little concerned about using 505.0 in a 2.0 PD TDI as that oil was not designed for the PD engine but the older TDI. As for the 505.01 well IIRC it's suitable for fixed interval servicing on cars with no DPF, but on other models if the car has a DPF it's a no no too.

I'd not be taking a chance with an expensive DPF unless you're sure. Sorry I can't be more help, but I don't know a more conclusive answer.
