Lol :)

Was taken at my Dad's house.

Like I said, I'm gonna attempt to address the bodywork imperfections, and will even attempt to repspray the rear bumper and tail gate. It's my project for the summer.

Your girlfriend's B5 is very nice, Baker! I'm confident with some practise I can achieve nearly that sort of finish on this one :)

Ah, sorry! :)

Won't get a lot done till the Summer I think, when they're more lenient with time off from work.

Edited first post with some new jobs to do!

Bettws.... :D

Interior cleaning North West? Can recommend a place in Manchester if that's any good to you? It's where I take mine when they need doing.

Yep, I ran the motor for a year after buying it. It's now has a fair few bits missing from it :o.....

Babs, any parts you need to replace broken ones let me know and I may have some.

Got my car back from getting the cam belt changed at Preston Audi, they gave me a "vehicle report" of what they deemed to be wrong with the car, the vast majority was entirely fictitious even going so far as to invent problems non-existent suspension components!

I had a fresh MOT two weeks ago and I was actually going through the test with the guy, only problem was excessive play in the front-most suspension lower arms, which I replaced, nothing else picked up, not even an advisory.

Audi said the rear wheels bearings are showing excessive play, the front control arms on the rear suspension (interesting, since my car has a swing axle!) needed replacing, the front brake flexipipes need replacing, the tyres all need replacing (but then they show at least 5mm all round thread depth), the wipers need replacing, and (this is the funny one) the hatch and the rear bumper are "incorrect". Hmm really? I would never have thought that green panels on a blue car would be incorrect.

The total to rectify all this?

£2367

I basically laughed, paid for the cambelt and walked out!

Was there a particular reason you went to a main dealer for the cambelt replacement? Was it an attractive price or something?

  • Author

Price was the same as Awesome as Audi have got a fixed-price scheme for all cars over 3 years old, and the dealer is 2 miles from my house and gave a courtesy car.

Went back to Audi to get a "clean" copy of the invoice - service desk woman get quite shirty with me when I told them that all their "recommendations" were rubbish. I asked to speak to the After Service Manager, and eventually got an invoice that just says they've done the belt :)
