If I had a spare 5K....

Featured Replies

I would buy this.

Ford : Escort RS Turbo ( 1991 )

What can I stay but stunning one of the last Ford Escorts in that shape and a RS Turbo at that.

Takes me back to my childhood.

£5K on that? you need your marbles felt young man.

How much in the real world would one of these fetch in that condition?

Fair do's it's a minter.

But is it worth 5 large ???

I dunno but I think you could find far better cars to spend £5K on.

:+1:

They weren't very impressive 18 years ago either.

Go over to Ireland and pay for the dyno to be calibrated haha

Love it, I stumbled on that one to .......... I may get one of those ebay electric superchargers for the vRoomster and nip to their RR and check my figures

They're not all they were cracked up to be.

If i had a spare 5k, it wouldnt be going on a Mk4 RS thats for sure.

Lots of other nice cars out there for that money.

If i had a tad more than 5k, and a car to keep for life..

This would be it.

Rover : rover sd1 twin plenum vitesse

Good Find Johnny

Not seen one of them in years

I would trade my house for one of them !!

Loved them for as long as i can remember.

Infact, any V8 Rover SD1 would do me really. :D

Must admit i longerd for an RS Turbo when i was younger. Would however prefer a series 1.

My preference is for Mk1 & 2 Escorts - Twin Cams, RS's and Mexico’s and my personal favourite, the Mk 2 RS1800 (YouTube - Ford Escort RS 1800 (Finnish subtitles))

Admittedly any half decent MK1 or 2 is considerably more than £5K and the one in the video is probably worth north of £25K :(

If I had a spare £5k and could find one I would buy a 309 GTI Goodwood. Always had a soft spot for one of these

Both nice car's and mint, i'd love a sierra rs500.

Sadly i've got to spend just under 5k on a kitchen :bigcry: just to keep the wench happy. Still half of the kitchen will belong to me when i end up in the same situation as the rover sd1 driver who's selling

If I had 5k I'd sell my DC2 and buy a DC5.... :)

very nice indeed i love them i had mine for just over 2 years and swaped it for my octy vrs

I prefer the Series1 too.

I nearly bought one years ago. I fell in love with it straight away when I drove it. The owner (a friends dad) bought it short term while he was waiting for a Sapphire cossie to come his way. He eventually found one, we agreed a price for the series1, but some towrag stole it off his drive.:(

I don't see any RS turbo's anymore as most have gone to the scrapyard in the sky & to see this one in mint condition & not chavd up is very rare indeed. Credit to the owner:thumbup: To spend 5k on it, well I don't know, but to some the condition, rarety & RS cult status I can see the temptation.

A mate of mine has a MK3 RS1600i, very nice car indeed.

However price is all relative. If you wanted one then it will probably cost you more than that to find one and get it to that condition. Someone bought my 20vt Golf for £7.5k not that many years ago, and that was best part of 17 years old at the time.

I remember back in my YTS days at the garage. It was when the goodwood was launched. WOW! I thought it was lovely. Leather interior, wooden steering wheel, then i got the jod assisting in replacing the fuel tank filler neck and that put me off.

Oh yes, i like the RS1600i as well. Infact come to think about it i quite like Fords in general. ( Here comes a slating!!!!! )

Looks like it's been cherished, no doubt. But not worth 5k in my book. Everyone's different though, and I can see why someone would pay that for one.

Depends if I wanted something overtly 'classic' with my cash, but I'd be likely to buy an Integra or another MX-5 :)

Steve

No thanks.. looks like it should be being ragged up and down a sea front of a crappy sea side town somewhere!
