I'm wanting to get my oil changed on my vrs changed fairly soon. Normally(with previous cars) i'd buy the oil+filter(mann parts) from opie, then pay my mechanic £15 to change it but given car is under warranty and best i use skoda parts...i'm thinking best i ask skoda to do it.

is £70 for an oil change on the vrs...a reasonable price from skoda? is there "a going rate"? or do skoda dealers vary in price?

I'd say take your own oil if you can get it cheaper than the dealer price or speak to them nicely to get the price down. Shouldn't be too expensive to get it done though.

I'd say £70 all in for a dealer oil change is pretty fair to be honest.

if there usin Longlife III oil thats not too bad of a price really, and chances are the techy might have a quick browse around at other things whilst its in, as they will be looking for extra business from you, so may spot things that need doing

looking on the opie website and checking with a few motor factors you can buy VW pump diesel oil, spec 505.01 for between £20-£30. these are for brands like comma,havoline,fuchs

personally, i wouldnt want a flush doing on my engine

me neither and £56 for oil is outragious!

Price you pay for dealer servicing!

On the other hand, The few warranty issues I've had have been dealt with quickly and efficiently with no fuss!

We have 2 cars under warranty and I change the oil myself between servicing. It does describe how to do it in the owners manual!

Quantum oil (for PD diesel engine), filter and sump plug from Seat dealer about £40.

Cars on fixed interval servicing which I have done at the dealers.

Well in theory you are not carrying out the servicing as per guidelines and thus invalidating the warranty. Chances of them realising as slim (other than reading it on here of course).

id say the servicing is being done to guidelines if he is having the fixed interval services done at the dealers, though i can see what your saying, an awkward dealer could say you broke something doing an interim service yourself
