i want to transport my kart about on the car roof if possible. saves having to fit a towbar and buying a trailer.

what's the maximum weight oe roofbars can take?

It's 100kg IIRC

:confused: I have the genuine roof bars and they are rated at 75kg ?

I'm pretty sure the estate is rated for 65kg on the roof including the roof bars, not sure about the hatch but I would imagine it's similar.

Yes, the Skoda Octavia Technical data booklet quotes a permissible roof load of 75 kg for all Octavia variants.

i gave up on the roofbar idea for my kart and ended up getting a towbar fitted. cost £264 from towequipe, nuneaton. detachable, and totally un-noticeable. the electrics fold-up when not in use, and according to the fitters its exactly the same one skoda use.

my local skoda dealer wanted £720 for the same thing. madness!

i got my towbar, from towequipe, but fitted myself after buying from their ebay shop. Wiring on the socket was not very good. One wire loose, and 2 others wired up backwards!

oh dear, hopefully i'll never have to use the 'lifetime' guarantee...
