I can't afford my insurance

Featured Replies

When speaking to insurers it often helps to have to hand a quote as a new customer (easy if they give quotes online).

That is bloody crazy for a 27 yr old!

Im the same age - had 2 years no claims on business use - no accidents but a claim for damage by pikeys.

I do 30k miles a year on business use and pay £700 - norwich union gave me an introductory discount which equates to 3 years no claims!

I also have 3 points on my licence..

I cant understand why the hell your quotes are so high!

:iagree:I am 28, in an Octy vRS worth £12k, parked on the street at night, insured for business use and 25k miles per year. Live on Merseyside (hardly a crime-free area...) and am paying less than £700 a year with directline. Why so much?!? Can only be the area you live, your driving history, your job or some previous problems with insurance?

Try Directline

im 21, 1 Years NCB, license 2 years, 1 Declared claim non fault and my Mk2 vRS TFSi is only 1200 to insure, i say only, its still cheaper than 1700, id imagine you could get a better price than that

I need to see how much mine is.

I got a £20 refund when I changed to the Favorit

**When I enquired about insuring a Fiat Doblo I think my insurers wanted an extra £300 and I was 27, got 2 years ncb and I was driving my Felicia. 1 fault claim in 2005 and 1 claim in 2007 which was a foreign truckers fault.

1st policy I bought was £980 fully comp in 2004-2005 on an Astra 95N. Wrote car off in a low speed supermarket shunt (my fault) in 2005.

Then I bought the Felicia in 2006 - £972 My name and my Dad as named driver.

2007-2008 - £700

2008-2009 - £640

There could be another reason why quotes are so high.

Dont forget any claim on your policy or not is stuck on a database so this might affect future policies.

ATM because of the "credit crunch" Companies are unwilling to offer subsidies or something.

Plus the Octy VRS is high performance so prob sits high up in insurance groups.

Remember the Escort Cossie? £18k car and it cost the same to insure........

No young drivers on the policy?

What was the reason for your claim 3 years ago? Maybe that will also have a factor in the quote price

And maybe if push comes to shove maybe you should consider something more sensible until you can afford to insure a vRS

Try quinn direct,my son 58 reg fiesta z tec sport passed test 3 mths ago 19yrs old and only pays 860 f/comp.

Morethan a lot cheaper online rather than on the phone.

shocking quotes for your age mate. My insurance is due in April and last year it was about 3k. Pff I hear you cry, well 3points, accident at fault, 0 ncb, was 20 at the time, with unlimited miles. (although I could of saved £400 if I reduced it to 5000 miles a year). Oh and F* rated area.

Wonder if premium will go up or down as before my job was classed as "skilled" and now ive been laid off so its unemployed, hmm........

Thats a good price for a 19 year old but any named drivers? conditions? And what's the excess?

I just had my renewal forms through for both Insurance and breakdown.

£80 for RAC membership (vehicle cover)

KFIS want £577 (was £640 last year) did the search online and the cheapest quotes were

Done Deal - £398 (250 excess)

KFIS - £402 (100) and The Green insurance company £405 (100 excess)

This is on my Favorit, 3 years ncb, 1 fault claim 2005 and 1 non-fault 2007 with 1 named driver.

Admiral maybe worth a shout.
