Octavia VRS Estate Spare Key

Featured Replies

I only got one key with my car. Any advice on where I should go to get a spare and how much this is likely to cost me

Thanks

The only sure way of getting one with the plip remote and immobiliser functions operating correctly would be to go to a Skoda dealer. I've heard tell of cheaper alternatives on Fleabay, but they have a habit of going pear-shaped.

Do you have the SKC code?

This code is needed to recode the new key, without this code it will be dealer only and will cost over £100.

If you have the code then someone with VCDS can recode the new key.

I agree on sure way of getting key but at £120 to £160 It aint cheap.

I aint gonna get into the whole which is better way of doing it ....but ebay keys can be had and programmed to car for around 50% of skodas price and a bit of running around compared to the stealers way.

The 3 things you need

1 , new key with same part no as your old one that currently works

2 , new transponder(sometimes not needed)

3 , software and cable to get skc(if not got already) and code the key

all the above can be had for around £50 to £70 if you search hard enough.

I would recommend the dealers tho if you have not got the time or dont wanna put effort in

I'm in the same position, but I only need an "unlocking" key, not a "driving" key, hence I don't think I need the immobilizer to work with it. Are all keys the same? I mean, ordering a new key with the same part number means it will unlock my doors? (these part numbers are unique i suppose ;) )

The part number for the key blade is for a blank blade, which needs cutting to the lock pattern.
