Radio Problem

Featured Replies

I hope someone can help me. I have the Symphony CD/radio in my Fabia Ambiente1.2 petrol. Occasionally when I switch the engine off while the radio is still on, the next time I switch on the engine the radio loses the pre-stored station that I was last listening to. I then re-store it and all works well. After a day or two or a week it happens again. If I had a CD playing when I switch off the engine, the next time I start, the radio comes on and when I try to get the CD out I get ‘No CD’ and I can’t get the CD out. I’ve been to the Skoda agents in Malta several times. They have changed my radio three times and checked all fuses, but the problem ramains. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks

The radio has two 12v supply lines. Permanent for memory backup and switched. The permanent supply will be the one that's faulty. Probably loose wire in the DIN plug.

Yea, it will be a fiddly job though.

As said above there is two live wires into your radio, the thickest red wire will be constant power to keep the memory, and the thickest yellow will be a switched live that goes live when the ignition is switched on.

Remove the radio and check to see if the red wire is loose in the plug that goes into the back of the radio.

Try pushing the red wire firmly into the plug and taping it to the wire next to it, to keep it more secure, and hopefully stop it vibrating and loosing connection.
