MK1 Octavia RS key

Featured Replies

Hello I wonder whether anyone can advise. I came to the car tonight, would not unlock remotely with the key. It wasn't flashing when the keys were pressed so I guess the battery is dead. Now, when I unlocked it manualy the alarm didn't go off (is that normal? all my previous cars started screaming in situation like that). Car started fine.

What battery is in the key fob? Is there any procedure when changing it, I don't even know which part I should take of to open it. How quickly do I need to do it, dont want to 'immobilise' myself really :) Thanks

There is no alarm on the Vrs model thats why it didn't go off :P The red LED in the door only indicates the car is deadlocked

Battery replacement information is here:

You do not need to do anything with the immobiliser as it is a completely separate system to the remote door locking and does not require a battery in the key to work.

The battery for the remote locking should be a CR2032, the very eary Octavias used 2 X CR2016 batteries.
