Huge boost, not huge power!

Get a proper remap would be my advice.

My advice would be to get a proper remap.

I had my car dyno'd for the first time yesterday and the graphs are below. It has a Custom Code remap done about three and a half years ago by JBS.

As you can see it tested at 175 whp, so about 201bhp at the flywheel, but 21psi of boost

It drives well and I haven't had any issues but the owner of the tuning shop was concerned about the high boost.

Should I be concerned? What could I do about it? Should I do anything about it?

must admit 21 psi is very high mate, id say you should only have max of 16-17 and still get more power.

I agree, get a decent remap mate.

Custom code seems to have a tendency to max out boost at all times - my stage 1 on the PD130 was definitely high risk for a stock turbo IMHO.

Worth dropping Lummox a PM ;) - he may be able to hook you up :)

1.4 bar is normal for them but everyone else can get more power with less boost

It's not idea but as it's not given you any problems in the last 3.5years then probably not worth the worry.

You could alway send your ecu off and get it done again or bring it back with you the next time your over

sounds like a good idea that mate.

get it done when you over on hol.

ecu evo mate

lots of good things bein said there. prob get more out of it too.

Yep heres my Ecu evolution map with exhaust and CAI but before FMIC.

Yeah! im slowing coming round to the idea of a ecu evolution remap, keep hearing good things, a good price too! Nice graph martziniuk, how long you had that map, any problems?

Had this map since april 2008 with no problems.

Not as many options over here for remaps - Superchips (don't think so!) or the dyno place uses Unichip - a piggyback chip which can be used to create a custom map using the rolling road. Costs $1750 - about 700 quid

wow

damn thats a lot mate.

Marti thats a nice graph what she like to drive? looks a bit spikey?

Rob, do you come over here at all? mind i wouldnt livin over ther lol

just get it done over here. least ur car wont get stolen while you on holiday lol

Yeah it does look a bit up and down but on the road it feels surprising smooth. I get quite a bit of torque early on then around 3500-4000rpm you can feel another little kick of torque.

I won't be over to the UK now for at least 2 years, probably longer.

In any case it would make sense to get a custom map tailored for the car. But to do that I'll want to change the exhaust first, maybe get a FMIC.

Which means it ain't happening for a long time unless I win the Lotto.

Its annoying the price of these remaps in nz isnt it rob! as soon as they see the cars european they automaticly charge the earth! hopefully ive found a place which is a tad cheaper but the guys up in auckland!

Hmm, could be worth the trip if it was a lot cheaper. Then again I could go back to a local place more easily if there were problems.

im currently putting a bit away each pay to get a remap! hopefully talk to the guy this week and see what he says, apparently he has a couple of different maps, but will know for sure once i speak to him,

I'm running JBS custom code phase1 map & on their rollers mine recorded 238bhp flywheel @6600 rpm with 228 of torque. I got SWMBO the other day to watch the boost gauge & that recorded 21 psi of boost too.

I've had the remap for over a year now & it hasn't caused any problems (yet).

238 bhp what else have you had done ??? would say your torque could be a bit higher:thumbup:

I have the carbonio CAI, forge TIP, Forge 007 diverter valve with a yellow spring, Miltek 100cel sports cat & a Blueflame exhaust system.

I would have hoped for a little more torque too. I'm wanting to try it on a different set of rollers to get a different comparison which I will do when I get to fit the FMIC, but it does feel nice & smooth to drive on the road which is what really matters:thumbup:

the torque could be a bit higher but looks nice and smooth the bhp seems very high but thats just the rollers being nice probanly looks like a good graph:thumbup: be interesting to c another rr result

You will be unhappy with the result you get

IMO JBS RR is not the best for true figures.

As long as your happy and the car drives well that's the main thing ;)

This was what mine looked like prior to the CAI and FMIC.

I've braced myself for the disapointment:D
