Buy a 4x4,...............

I remember a story that my dad told me last year. He one found a young policeman in his Land Rover or Japanese 4x4 thing in a ditch at a sharp 90 degree corner. The officer said "How did that happen, I've got 4wd" "So have I" my father replied in his Scoobie Impreza. The 4x4 had ordinary looking summer road tires on it. He waited a while but the officer was gob smacked when my dad accelerated away in his car with propper Pirelli snow/winter tires on.

Winter tyres make all the differance, evan with 2wd.

If you do get stuck, do not use your Strut Brace as a Tow Hook, as someone once found out on this forum.:)

Avoid carparks that hasnt been gritted and I know its been said but DO take a spade with you as I just found out.

Probably down to myself but my Skoda is like bamby on ice. That wall that i parked next to a few metres away, closed up to within a foot before help arrived to push me away. Once you start spinning your just digging a hole for yourself, mind you i was on a hill trying to reverse.
