vRS useless in the snow

Featured Replies

Whats a 4x4 Octy like in snow? I'm reluctant to move mine considering i've never even seen this much snow before in my life!!

Absolutely brilliant - another league!

COming back to fwd from the 4wd Octy can be quite 'interesting' at this time of year. :o

So I should manage a trip to tesco? :P never driven in snow before!

Obviously full winter wins over all season, but I'm thinking some all season with the snowflake on should do the job about as well as an all season can. :)

It will be much better than staying on summertires in winter :D And will be good enough to drive in summer while having +30°C.

Not a supersports tire but a good allrounder.

It will only be real fun if you drive to Tesco Inverness !

Seriously , IMHO the original 4*4 is more at home in snow than the Scout . This may be due to the fact that it has narrower tyres .

My daughter-in-law and son both have 4*4s and mum-in-law has a TT but thinks that driving the Skoda in snow is a hoot !

I used to love driving my previous car a 4x4 Octy mk1 - no problems in snow/ice on ungritted back roads.

My current car a mk2 vrs however... lets just say i've been using the wifes Hyundai Getz to travel to work this week

bahnstormer - true, so why are they seemingly worse in snow? The weight shopuld be an advantage. The reason? C**p driving, unfamiliar with such conditions.

More traction/grip required to move the weight; Less grip available = wheelspin! ;)

just reverse up the hill to get extra weight over the engine! (joke) nearly got stuck getting out of there though :thumbdwn:
