You have got to love big empty cars parks in the snow

Very much so!! You dont get the chance often so go out and enjoy!

thats funneh!

Enjoyed the nice warm comfort of my home instead hehe :P

i ruined 2 wheels buckled both and blew both tyres, passenger side, not nice,, i wont be out in the snow again for a bit,,lol

Even old blokes hit curbs.

Yep, slow speed dink last night.

Damned 'selective gritting' council Basta**s!!

Turned into a RH junction, slowly, hit the ungritted road and the sheet ice and DINK onto the curb at about 3mph - two nice marks on the other wise perfect NS front wheel - COW! No major damage, just very annoyed with myself for making a dumb mistake.

Serves me right, but then, this road is busier than the one i was coming off, but ZERO grit!!!

Time to hit the empty car parks for some fun and practice. (I remember my old Viva in 1983, opposite locking RWD in the snow is great fun if done in the right place).

Bring on the Summer!

thats funneh!

i know, i must be evil or sick in the head to laugh at other peoples mis-fortune, but to be fair it almost killed me too, i laughed so hard i nearly had a stroke... the geezer in the car next to me at the traffic lights was laughing at me because i was chuckling so hard the car was rocking:O

yes , very gently when i turned into work :o

i did straighten the wheel up so i didn't hit the rim side on , so no damage done :)

well its along store but the short version is 2 kids running into the road 1 vrs crawing along in the snow slightly down hill a slight slide into the curb too slow for ABS to activate at 5-10mph now a £400 bill say no more!

Not happy

Marcus

I couldn't be asked to wipe the snow/ice off the car Monday AM, so I got the Impreza out of the garage and took it through the woods to work. Not a totally uplifting experience but at least I didn't hit anything.

Tuesday, took the Fabia and took advantage of lots of snow but few cars in the car park to use the handbrake to assist my 90degree turn into a parking slot. :)

Probably a good thing that I had new tyres fitted on Friday!

My driving instructor taught me skid control on an empty supermarket car park on a icy day in winter 88 (before they used to open on a Sunday) - has a right laugh at the time and has been an invaluable lesson since, although my Octy has ABS, ASR, DSG and a bunch of other letters and has been very solid in the snow this last week.

Did that in a car park at British Gas a few years back, unfortunately the HR manager and her husband were also walking across the car park at the time. He clapped (it was a well executed move even if I do say so myself), she called me to her office and gave me a talking to.

i managed to avoided it, tho if i can manage it in a bus for 10 hours id be a bit worried if i didnt in the furbie lol

I quite enjoy driving in the snow :) Private car parks are fun too :)

Indeed, this is us messin about in a mates Mazda.

Ive found the Fabia really good in the snow, best car ive had to drive in the snow for some reason! At work all the Audi's BMW's and other rep mobiles were there struggling and neededing pushing out, the fabia came out without any fuss! The only issue i have is the undertray was sat on the snow all the time, but thats my fault for lowering it, nearly didnt get out the garage on thursday because the undertray was catching on the snow!

yeah caught a kerb monday morning black ice under the snow only damaged the alloy a little and put tracking out, sick of this weather!

I hit a kerb at 50mph in november I think it was... Damn tactors and their diesel.

Snow wasnt that bad up here and the roads have been gritted to perfection! :)

This really prooves driving tracks should offer more handling courses such as a skid day etc etc.

The police round here do one, but I think it's only for 17/18 year olds - maybe even only for ex car criminal kids.

That really annoys me. I'd have loved a go when I was 17-18. Why reward the criminals. There was one round here too.

Ive done 600 miles this week, all in snow, and im fine. Took SWMBO to hospital last night at 2am, -8 and alot of sidewards.

Its also good fun working on an ex mod airfield!! BIG sidewards fun.

ive been doing that on an airfield to! i hit a curb the other weekend masive sheet of ice it was a parked fiesta or a kurb, took the kurb option no damage done to furby, good choice!!!!!

  • 5 years later...

A bit of a bump

Hit the curb last night, exited a roundabout into a very tight road with cars parked on both sides of the road and speeding BMW heading straight down, had to quickly swerve and mounted the curb, no real damage, maybe tracking is out again
