symphony radio code

Featured Replies

is there any way of getting the radio code without having to fork out loads of money to Skoda??

Not really John.

You need the SKZ serial number from the sticker on the radio (or VCDS) and the car chassis number.

Have you been given a price?

nope, not yet. It's just laziness on my part because I stripped the plugs off my ipod stereo to put it into the Porsche, and can't be arsed to put it all back together for the Ibiza, so I thought I'd just stick the Symphony one in and connect it to the dension ipod connector that the theiving scumbag salvage yard vultures missed when they stole the DAB radio...

I reckon it's probably around the £10-20 mark as that's generally what other dealers charge...

I had the code prompt on mine after the cruise was fitted. Phoned Skoda who wanted £40 to read it and program the code. Anyway I pressed a number button on the unit and it started working straight away with no code. May be worth trying.

If it's already been in that car it shouldn't need a code at all.

John - Price depends on your level of goodwill at the dealers.

got my code from skoda dealer in northampton £10.

I tried pressing a few buttons but it was definitely asking for a code, so I left it rather than guessing.

It's not been in that car either - it came out of my Octy, and it's currently in the Ibiza.

Think I'm probably going to pull the ipod stereo out of the Porsche and put it in there - it's just a pain with the wires all being cut etc...

Thanks for the suggestions though...

I might be able to help if you can get me the 16-digit code (VAG-COM?). If you can get that, PM me and I'll see what I can do...

BTW, the (Fabia) Symphony I put in SWMBO's car asks for the code every time the battery's disconnected - don't know whether it's something to do with it being in another car previously???

Got two radios decoded at my dealers for no charge.

If its the original radio from your car it should code itself.

Just plug the stereo in as normal, switch the ignition on then turn the radio on. After a couple of seconds it should run as normal.

I unplugged my stereo a few times when fitting a boost gauge and just followed that sequence to get it going again. Not sure what happens if its not the original:confused:

HTH;)
