hello i have installed my columbus it came today i installed today everyting sweet as i had mfd2 before am selling that now. thanks to VRSTU and MANNYO, i didnt need vagcom coding mine worked straight away with maxi-dot, thats strange considering it is an alleged 3T variant. but i have one problem the cd changer standard on elegance works but the sound i recieve through the changer via columbus sounds distorted. so VRSTU is there some sort of wiring issue. but the playing anything direct through unit works crisp and clear. i must agree with VRSTU the standard speakers and this unit sound AAA like i have a mini sub in the car. only problem is sound through cd changer any help.

The cd changer ground is in a different pin location on the quad lock and needs moving. Stu has the info on his website.

You need to move the CD changer ground, it will be currently where it shows as Aux earth on this picture and needs moving one position left.

It probably does need coding then i had to alter mine even though it worked pretty much straight away including maxi dot. But i still needed to code it. I had to alter the equalisation from linear to seat toledo/skoda octavia (thats the option in VCDS) and then the CD changer sounded fine. TBH my CD changer is redundant as it never gets used all my music is on the HDD

It will probably log a few faults which will be noticed on a scan.

The CAN-BUS gateway will be looking for what was coded before but will see what has now been fitted and will throw a bit of a hissy. Prior to coding my MFD2 I had a few instances of the Maxi-Dot seizing up for 10-15 minutes at a time but was cured when I corrected the coding.

If you have a Stream then the CD changer will need sorting, Stream MP3 with Aux in are normally ok.

It will need a little bit of coding, not only for the Columbus but also the CAN gateway.
