Save up for a new Furby VRS when it comes out next year (I reckon about £13k or £14k it will be and at which point my car will at least have lost another grand on its value or...

Spend £6000 and never see that money again on modifying mine further to go for the 250bhp club or leave it as it is and pray the turbo doesn’t go pop and the flywheel lasts. (Been the standard KKK turbo I don’t have much faith in it)

I'm skint at the minute so need to start saving either way for which ever decision I choose. My Mrs is moving in with me in May and were on about getting married next year so Ive got all this to consider. Hoping both parents will help out money wise on that (Nothing fancy just close friends and family)

What do you think I should do??? Ive got lots to way up

save the money, if ur after performance by a EVO 8 for arround 9-12k with 25k+ miles and save the rest on running the thing and buying the missis to be, a present, lol

its crazy how much car u can get for such little money at the min

Good grief man, the answer is obvious.

Dump the woman, sell the Skoda, and buy a proper car....

Job Done

Dont bother moddifing the fabia anymore, ive been there done that and got the t- shirt and wished id never bothered tbh.

Go out and buy a nice looking volvo s40 sport T5. hieco exhuast and a bsr re-map should see around 280bhp. plenty of fun and at the same time a safe car if you start a family :D

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Ok, you do that. Ill save up for that Acme{TM} Disintegration Ray pistol that I have always wanted. That's supposed to be coming out next year as well....

BTW thats £10 please.

Leave the car as it is.

IMO on the Fabia VRS, a RARB, pd160 + air filter, remap, 312mm brakes, cupra bushes and possibly coilovers if you want to make it look half decent, is all that needs doing, any more than that is just overkill and it starts getting silly.

with the above mods you've got a very competent little warm hatch with good value for money. more than this and it gets silly and you've got to start asking, why buy a fabia vrs in the first place?

I know I've got a couple more little mods but I wont be doing anymore to the performance, as far as I'm concerned the only possible major purcahse in the future will be 17s. Other than that its done

^^ Wot he said ^^

Its your money you decide... If it makes you happy then do it...

I p'd off a Cayenne S last night because he wouldn't move out the way, made me all warm when he said "why am I the ar$e hole, is it because I've got a faster car?"

I then left him in a big cloud of smoke so he could choke on his words.

I wouldn't buy brand new IMHO, thats the best way to loose cash quick

You know my opinion, but then I've done it, and never planning on getting rid of the car. The economics of heavy modifying only come good if you keep the car for years and years afterwards. :)

^^

Exactly, I know that the turbo isnt going to internally combust unlike the KKK

if you want that kinda of performance it makes more sense to buy that kinda of performance out the box rather than make ur car into it. Summin like a Scooby or evo as previous post would suffice.

and if you struggling for cash you know i have money ready for your white Spiders i'll even offer a set of OEM's so you can still get down the shops and buy ur missus that present!

Why buy a scooby? Everyone man and there dog has them. If you mod its like a one off and your own work. Plus you'll get c0cks trying it on all the time

At the end of the day you have to realise what the fabia vrs is. It's a nippy sports hatch with average handling and good mpg. Whats the point in spending all that money on modifying one to try and make it something it isn't. Buy an evo and modify that, that way your making a really fast and great handling car seriously fast. I bought a fabia vrs to run to work and back as its 400 miles a week. I remapped the fabia, suspension and exhaust and thats it. Unless you have lots of miles to cover week to week then like the others say, buy a fast petrol car like an evo, or TVR which have incredible handling even in standard trim. My mate picked up an evo6 rallyart uk verison 310bhp for 8,000 with 60k on the clock and the thing drives like its on rails.

I was just gonna say that..surely the reason why anyone buys a fabia vrs is the economy and power..so why have most replies been "buy an evo " how does a 15mpg car compare?

uprated brakes and suspension is all thats req'd on a vrs IMO..god knows how anyone can keep the power down in a remapped VRS w/o an LSD:confused:

+Service cost of a evo, insurance, tax.....

The running costs of a modded fabia cannot be compared to anything jap.

Some people just see big BHP and dont think....

Oh while your at it EMINENCEMOTORS : FERRARI FXX

Big BHP out the box, make a offer?

I think the evo/scooby comments are simply related to bang for buck!

There aren't really a simpler cheaper (or admittedly thirstier) way to get to 250-300 BHP bracket.

My friend used to have a evo 8. He traded in his Astra VXR for it. He now has a Audi A4 simply because he couldn't afford it. A trip to town at night and back = 14miles = £20

Now he thrashed it hence the stupid fuel, but isnt that what you buy it for? If not then a Aygo will suffice.

Basically I think you should find a happy medium, i.e/ keep your car and aim for about 180ish.

Dont be throwing money at new metal, throw it at the bar on your stag/wedding do haha

Or save all that cash, buy a Mk1 Golf and drop a 1.8 20VT lump in there, you've got it all then :)

The joy of having a Fabia VRS and modding it comes from the fact that in standard form its a very enjoyable, good car which is also understated and is much faster than many would think (sleeper car) then when you mod it with things such as a Re-map, larger turbo etc etc etc etc you just multiply the original good things about it over and over again. (assuming you dont alter the looks too much also people still never expect it to be anywhere near as fast. Along with the added fuel economy etc. If you love your VRS then keep it and spend on it as you see fit. what you need to bear in mind also is that if you did get the new VRS whenever it did come out you will be in the same boat again modding etc etc but it would have costed you and extra 12k in first place for the car. Keep the VRS, mod it as you see fit and then in the future if you decide you need another car for whatever reasons just buy yourself a cheap 5-door hatch diesel such as Fabia SDI/TDI which im sure will be cheap as chips too, and you can still keep the VRS for your weekend fun! (This is my way of thinking anyways  )

It seems to me you already know what you should be doing.

In yet another thread about your car:

http://briskoda.net/fabia-i/stage-3-advice-please/136299/

You state that you will be going ahead with the work .

It's your car and you life. This is an internet forum - I wouldn't let people control my life.

I don't wish to sound harsh in my post but your either going to:

a) Do the work to your car to become a 250+bhp car.

or

B) Save the money - give the woman of your dreams a day to remember.

Goodluck

Go for option A, you know it makes sense

how would buying the usual suspects of off the shelf bolt-ons make a car one off?

i'm sure i heard somewhere that the new Fabia VRS would be a petrol version,

personally i'd stick with the oil burner.

just my 2p worth
