Automatic rear wiper

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how I can deactivate the automatic feature, where the rear wiper wipes if the front is activated and you select reverse gear...

Problem for me being that whilst I might have defrosted my front wipers, the rear is still frozen to the window :(

Hi Susi, it can probably be coded out via vagcom/vcds or a trip to the dealer. Other options might be to leave the front wipers switched off whilst reversing, or as I do free the rear wiper from the screen as I walk round to clear the side windows from frost.:)

OK thanks, I'll see what the dealer can do.

Sometimes we get ice so thick up here in Finland, that it can be more than the depth of the wiper blade. In this situation it's actually not possible to clear it with an ice scraper, you need to get the engine running for 20 minutes and defrost the windscreen from the inside with hot air...

But even with the rear window heating on, somehow it isn't always capable of releasing the wiper from the ice (although it does clear the actual window.. :( )

So once the front is nearly melted, you need to give it a wipe, but then as soon as I select reverse, it wants to wipe the frozen rear too :(

Flick on the front wipers. Turn off the front wipers. Wait for the wipers to return to their normal position. Engage reverse. Then it should not wipe the rear window.

That works on the Mk1 Fabia with this feature. I dont drive off with ice on my windscreen, but I must admit if it needs 20 minutes to heat up, that would not be practical I must admit :)

Normal winter condition in Norway (and Finland).

This is how Octavia look after 3 hour drive, with defrost, and rear window heating.

In april we can maybe take a look out off the window in the back again. :-)

I'd enable both rear fogs, if you're that snowed up. Your tail lights are barely visible.

You could also park with the wipers lifted, or better yet, bring them indoors.

Hyvä päivä :]

Skoda jälleenmyyjät voivat selvittää tämän asian teille.

minulla oli ihan sama asia, kunnes meidät siirretty englannin.

Kiitos kovasti.

Mutta ehkä kohta sinulla olisi sama onglema englannissa, lisää lunta on tulemassa!
