Marangoni Mythos

Featured Replies

Anybody got experience of these tyres. I asked my local tyre fitter for a set of new tyres (vrs estate - 225/40/R18) and he came back with prices for:

Price 1 Michelin Pilot sport 2 £ 164.79

I've asked him to quote for Vreidsteins and Goodyear Eagle F1's but was interested if anyone has used the Marangonis - I've never heard of them.

There is an offer on at Costco at the moment, circa £420 for 4 x Michelin Pilot Sport 2's.

If you or you know somone that has access then I think it would be a good option.

Got them on mine and love them.

I have had them on my vRS for about 15,000 kilometres now[225/45/17].They are very average tyres with no particular strong points except the fact that they're progressive when they lose grip. They warn you beforehand when they're about to let go.

I not sure whether I can recommend them.:)

I tried some Marongonis a few years back and found the ride comfort on them non-existent; very jittery on broken/rippled surfaces; so much so that I went back within 7 days and my tyre guys switched them for me; as it happens I went to Michelin Pilot Sports.

Of your selection I'd go for the Michelins (cheaper if you can) or Verdestein Ultrac Sessantas.

Good luck.

They're italian budget tyres. Basically, they're the Fiat Punto of the tyre world.

Thanks for your comments

I'll give the mythos a miss...

and in the press today it says Marongonis is linked to testicular cancer, so avoid.

think you've been smoking the old Marongonis!

One of the guys in my home forum (carandimage.com) has Mythos on his XR5. He raves about them but nobody else will give them a try.

Apparently the sidewalls are extremely stiff.

I remember 2-3 years ago Marangoni were only making rethreaded el-cheapo tires for sale in supermarkets. I'd steer clear.
