creamy filler cap

Featured Replies

Hi All

Since buying my VRS Mk2 with 13700 miles on the clock i have noticed at 14900 Miles a creamy liquid under the oil filler cap. Skoda assure me this is normal as its cold and im only doing 5 miles to work and back again

anyone seen anything similar or are they pulling the wool over me

Perfectly normal, your engine is not getting hot enough to burn off the condensation that builds up inside the engine.

It must be the cold weather. There are quite a few of us spotting it now.

it is normal. cold and short distances do that... try to warm up good the car and drive smoothly...

Yep - same appearing on mine - but as stated following long journeys and a good blast from Yorkshire upto Scotland it's minimised alot recently.

Just to echo the above, it's probably just 'short run syndrome', but I had a scare a little while back (eek!), and found this guide very useful in confirm that I'd avoided disaster (despite the fact it doesn't come from the most reputable place!):

If you can successfully work your way through that, then I'd be confident there's nothing to worry about!

same here too and a bit there when i got to jkm on saturday too. ive only noticed it since its been really cold.

My Boyfriend today checked my oil levels and found a creamy substance under the filler cap.I told him id look on the web site and now im slightly worried. My 06 year vrs has only 9000 miles on it,surely not a serious problem, the dealer assured me they changed the oil,and gave it the once over before i bought it.I also got my BF to take it for a longish drive 40 miles, and it still has a slight substance accumilating under the cap.I was so pleased with him for washing and polishing my car for me,but this has now taken the gloss of it.

Octaviagirl i wouldnt worry about it too much. As others have said it will more than likely be due to the cold weather. My 07 vRS is exactly the same. Even after a 280 mile drive i still have a slight residue. I had my 2nd variable service in January and asked the dealer about this and they just said it's due to condensation in the engine from the cold weather
