With a remap in mind I've come to the conclusion that the cam belt will need changing first, with the car now travelled 53k miles,.

Does anybody know where the best deals are for a kit and roughly how much?

Bear in mind genuine has a 2 year guarantee on parts and a 'total engine replacement' guarantee if any of the timing parts fail prematurely & damage the engine (work carried out at VAG dealerships no cost).

This is why I will only use genuine parts for timing on VAG cars.

Seeing where you live, give Mike at Impossible Performance a call on 01227730068, he is only at Canterbury.

He did all the work on my old Octy vRs, including cam belt, tensioner and water pump without any problems, always used genuine parts, and lots cheaper than the stealers.

He will also do the remap if you want him to, he mapped mine.
