Giving up the Noia 5800 What should I get?

Featured Replies

As can't live without the addressbook and missed call function on my skoda handsfree I'm debating what to swop my 5800 for?

Is their a phone with similar spec for the £220 I paid or should I go for sometihng like the touch HD or iphone (I already have an ipod classic)

Maybe I should get my cashback and hold on for a bit longer (for palm pre or new gen wm phone).

What are your thoughts?

I've just gone for the Nokia 85 and I'm loving it.

It was a toss up between that and the 5800.

Mine was on contract, although I think it will be more than the 5800 to buy outright.

N85... is that the OLED screen model? Wouldn't I have the same issues with my skoda bluetooth handsfree tho...

Yes - it is the OLED screen - very impressive. Some would argue more of a successor to the N95 than the N96 is!

Just read your other post about bluetooth though, and with it being Nokia I guess you may have the same issue - no experience myself sorry

I'd go for a Sony Ericsson, in fact I'm very tempted to go this way because of the way Nokia have mucked up the BT standard on their latest phones  - but I like my N95 too much really

A mate has just got an SE c905 and that's very good indeed:

A touch HD will cost you way more than £220, great phone though!

The C905 has to be one of the faultiest handsets I have seen in a long time. Failure rate is about 10% and there is a huge shortage of the relevent parts. It's a great handset but one I would avoid.

What is the OLED like in the sun and is it well packaged as I'd hope they are not as fragile as the older mobile screens could be.

Fair enough, useful info. I'll cross my fingers for him then as he really likes it

We are repairing about 2000 a week nationally at the moment

I'll let you know if we ever get any!!

My mates C905 has gone kaput after 2 months!! Shocking really!!!

Mmm, not all good news then I knew the C905 was having serious issues (I do like SE handsets though), Nokias look out due to the shoddy compatibility with BT standards and my handsfree kit. The Touch HD would mean me going on a contract (not forking out 500 notes for a mobile!)

I think it leaves me getting my money back and going back to my K810i for a bit longer!

Thanks all... any other suggestions?

Yep.

Get a Nokia 6300 and use it for what it was intended for and stop messing round with all these wireless things. It will work perfectly for a long time, it's cheap and easy to use. You don't really need all the connectivity, I mean how did you get along before you had it?

True Decron, Iguess you could say that about a lot of things, I must admit I am pretty reliant on hands free calling in the car. I didn't notice it until I changed to this phone.

I was talking to someone the other day about life before mobile phones...

yes the 6300 is a great phone! I have one as my work phone, and also have an n95 8gb as my personal phone. The 6300 has a lot of really handy nice little touches that the (higher specced) n95 does not.

The 6300 does all you could want really, but no doubt when my contract on the n95 is up i'll probably be looking at the n97 or an iphone......

My N73 has limited functions (phone book, redial) on the Ford system, but my N96 seems to have full control over call features (last dialed list, received list, missed calls, call answer phone).

Guessing they all use differing BT versions?
