SWMBO's new (ish) car - the contenders.

Featured Replies

Really? Have you owned either?

Just curious because a read through the owners comments on the What Car site has put me off both - literally for every good review there is a bad.

No, but the CCC (qv) is about as good as Briskoda for owner support and experiences. Arguably better because you don't get people signing up just because they've got a problem, and vanishing as soon as it's resolved.

Also, you could have a look at Citroenet .

Another weekend of trying cars - finally narrowed down to 3 mid size examples: Toyota Corolla, Vauxhall Astra and Honda Jazz.

Just put a deposit down on a lovely (subjectively!) Jazz and pick it up on Saturday!!

Thanks for all the input.

Of those 3, the Jazz would be my first choice sight unseen.

Out laws have a Jazz, and it's quite a nice car. MPVish room, and a doddle to drive.

I'd say the C4 is a good car (shares a fair bit with a focus IIRC) and I know people who have run C3's for a good while. To be fair to citroen a lot of people slated the BX suspension as totally unreliable. At a time not too far before this a lot of people had decided that since the suspension still worked they didn't need to change the LHM and have the filters cleaned. You still see a fair few on the road, so it can't be that bad and mine certainly wasn't.

I think a lot of problems of value for money cars come from people taking the low cost approach to servicing and so some of the sites with opinion won't expose this fact.
