Is 53,000mls to much on June 07 car?

Featured Replies

USED NISSAN QASHQAI 1.5 dCi Acenta, Howden, East Yorkshire

Back looking for a Qashqai 1.5 diesel for the sister and came accross the car above. Reg'ed June 07 and 53,000mls on it already. Talked with the dealer, car has full Nissan service history, remainder ot its 3yr Nissan cover, and is not a crash repaired car.

So, what do ye think? Is 53,000 to much is a 20mth old car? Sister does maybe 10,000mls a yr so she wont be putting all that much on top of it, but is planning to keep the car for at least 4yrs.

Cheers in advance for all your input

PS: Anyone in or arround Howden DN14 7TA willing to pop in and give the car a quick once over for us :rofl::rofl:

its a lot but not that bad, I have seen a lot worse. My 3 and a bit year old ocy has more than 68K miles on it.

High mileage for sure, but diesel engines aint run in till they hit 100,000 :D You have to consider transmission and suspension though. They have in effect had 4 years worth of use.

DN=Doncaster?

Looks pretty nice and loaded with kit too!!!!

Without taking a good look at the car its hard to give a good opinion.

But provided its been well looked after then the mileage isn't an issue. Plus if you're going to be adding another 40k miles on top you'll get your moneys worth.

My sisters M reg Micra needed a new clutch at 55k back in 2006, my Felicias went at 101k.

I wonder why they haven't put the mileage on the ad though?

mines april 07 and i'm up to 72,000 55k is nothing ;)

Well I have 37k on a October 07 which is low for me. It's high miles but you should be able to get a good deal on it. Quality shouldn't be a problem with a Nissan. If it was a Kia or Hyundai, I would be worried but I wouldn't be worried about it. It's not a cheap car at that price (Trade in on it is about £8k) so you should be talking a little turkey.

It's going to be all easy motorway milage too :)

The salesman said there is a "little leeway" on the price for cash deal, but that the Qashqai is one of only a few cars out there now that they know they will sell, there is strong demand and so the prices are holding very strong, and he is not the only one to tell me this, a few dealers have said the price is the price because they know they will get it :thumbdwn:

Mileage is not a problem on modern cars, its age that kills them & especially OK as its a Nissan, they seem to run forever & you are getting a full nissan warranty anyway.

If it really worries you ask about extended warranties.

Personaly from the details it looks a nice car & a nice colour as well, You could try & sweat it for a few more days to get nearer the end of the month as the salesman will have targets but you risk loosing it. I would use the extended warranty question as an excuse to call again & then fish for what he describes as leeway, maybey talk a few porkies about you are looking at another one at the weekend which is a private sale (would be cheaper) to not seem over keen.

If as you say theres a strong demand then dilly dalying you risk loosing it, the s/hand market is showing signs of recovery in some makes & good cars are starting to disapear. I know of one national group that are paying over book on some makes at auction to get stock

Does not sound to bad at all, with it being a Nissan it should be bullet proof, realiable and with it having a full service history I would not worry about it.

You need to change that too.........

"Does sound quite bad really with it been a RENAULT, it wont exactly be bullet proof will it? Full service history doesnt mean anything on weak engines and so I would worry about it"

Ok, maybe not strictly true but since Reno took over NIssan the "bullet" proofness of them went out the window. The engines are renault, the electrics are renault........................

OK, there are good and bad cars in every marque and the 53K will be mainly motorway miles. I would get it inspected and get an extended warranty on it.

Speak to the dealer and if he is so confident of its future reliabilty then tell him to put his money where his mouth is and offer a long extended warranty on it.

Also, is it the 2wd or 4wd version?

Steve

I had the 1.5 dCi (100bhp) engine in a Clio. The engine was pretty bullet proof for me. I did 65000 miles in 3 years and it never even used oil.

Those engines are very prone to sooting up and they have problems with the EGR sticking and the turbos eating oil and blowing the engine. If the car has done a lot of motorway / high speed driving then it'll probably be fine. If the miles have been done in town maybe not.

Parker's forum - Renault dCi Turbo Problems. Read TOPIC l First!

Mine needed a flush (right term?) every 10000 miles even through the servicing was 20000.

The rest of car was pretty poor though and fell apart quite quickly. The Kumquat might be a bit better being newer.

Its a big car for a small engine. Probably spent a lot of time getting pushed hard to get up to speed so it might have aged beyond its miles.

Renault electrics (for me) were not good. I had a loaded car and one of the reasons I got rid of it was because I expected a lot of it to go wrong out of warranty.

Em, it's a Renault Cashcow; just run away now! ;)

Sister IS GETTING a Qashqai - end of story :D. Wil not even look at any thing else I suggest to her

If it is this car or another we will know in the morning. This car is spec'ed well with options over the standard model, SatNav, that glass roof thing, few other bits, I have a feeling I will be in for a long drive in this car soon to get it home to Cork for her :rofl:

An extended warranty aint much good as it would not cross the Irish sea as well as the car will , and it is a 2wd car (think all the 1.5D cars are 2wd

What happened to that repaired CAT D you were looking at?

Sent an email asking if would be ok to get the AA to give it a FULL check out for us,, got no reply - so guessing he had something to hide and we just forgot about it then.

Oh, and the pix of the damage to the car "could no longer be found on his pc"

Pah, mine is an August '07 and it's just passed 78k

Still on its original PD140 turbo too :D

I once thought I was getting a 'bullet proof' Nissan in the form of the later shape Primera. Thanks to Renault this car tuned out to be a totally unreliable pile of poo, all the bits that went wrong were Renault bits and I would never touch another Nissan again.

Well I picked up the car last monday, and given the milage, the car is sweet . Built in Sat-Nav unit with 6Cd changer in dash, the full glass roof, reversing camera, auto lights and wipers(and they seem to work much better than the ones in my Octavia)

Drove 200mls to the port at about 75mph all the way, and she was showing 58mpg on the trip-comp. Very smooth riding car, tho rolls a bit in the bends, quiet and comfortable, the seats are real comfy. Sister is well happy with it .

So fingers crossed now that it proves to be reliable for her

Cheers for all your input guys and gals :D

Check the thread,we bought the 53,000ml car, not the damaged one

I did a cambelt on a Golf GT the other day (170PD), less than 18 months old, 85k on the clock.

My cambelt is being done on Thursday, it will be just over 80k by then and the car was registered at the end of August 2007. Not far off the Golf, must do more private miles :D
