How do you store your DSLR when not in use?

Featured Replies

Simple question really, having made the investment in a Sony A350 + Lenses, how is it best to store it when it's not being used for a few weeks?

Just in the bag with lense fitted, remove the lense and store in it's bag and the body in the bag.

It may sound like a daft question, but humour me please folks :)

Why remove the lens unless you want to change it? More opportunity for dust to get in.

I tend to store mine wherever I put it down :D

I'd second that - no point inopening the inside of the camera to the elements if it's not needed and as for storage I just keep mine on the window ledge in the lounge - not very good really but at least that way it's handy and I can grab it as and when the need arises (eg we had a fox in the back garden last week that I managed to get a few shots of that I woudn't otherwise have got if the camera wasn;t handy)

I keep the camera in it's bag (lens attached) and store in a cupboard. The only extra thing I do is remove the battery.

I keep the camera in it's bag with the lens attached and battery inserted.

I wouldn't split them purely for dust reasons.

I use a Vanguard custom foam case when storing the camera and leses. It's a metal case which is pretty sturdy, but when I want to have it "shooting" ready, I picked up one of those Lowepro Mini Trekker bags from a gent on here for £60. Doubles up as a backpack and worked wonders when I visited Japan last year.. Honestly have no idea what I would have done without it!

mine are dotted around my bedroom in various places!

the SLR's just live on the floor lens attached

used to keep em in my lowepro bag but got fed up with taking them in and out!

I always keep mine in my camera bag, battery and card inside, lens attached, and my other lens in there too.

I wouldn't keep things seperate, not only because of dust, but also because I often take my camera out on the spur of the moment, and if I kept things seperate I'd be bound to forget something. Much safer keeping everything together, ready to use :)

I keep mine in the bag with the lens on.

Mine is stored on a 'Cash Convertors' shelf waiting for me to collect it when my giro comes.

I store mine in my bag with a lens attached as this way it should be the safest to eliminate dust.

Fang You all for the replies.

I may be disappearing off for a while and can't take the camera so just wanted some opinions on leaving it sitting on the shelf in the bag.
