New Car with fault codes

Featured Replies

Ask them to provide you with a replacement until yours is fixed?? It would help if we could identify the 'unknown' code for the engine, for which as Sebastian says upgrade the software on your VCDS.

Will try and sought out a new scan, then ring Bickertons see if they have a loan car? If they have a loan car would I be expected to pay the £10 a day cost`s?

Were Bickerton the supplying dealer?

You really are just going to have to speak to them and see what arrangement you can make.

Yes, this is my 3rd Skoda from Bickertons.

Then I would not be expecting to pay for a loan car. It's the least they could do for you.

Is the mystery now solved?

The service manager has said the malfunction is due to way the car is set up, the oil temp sensor that is showing a malfunction is there for variable servicing and my car is set to fixed servicing. So when you do a full scan that sensor is not used so it shows up a malfunction? As for other electrical problems they did not show up when the car was back at Bickertons also they have no answer for the poor mpg (mid 30`s). Is this right vrStu?

anyone any ideas?

The sensor may well be the TOG sensor which I believe isn't normally used on UK cars and is an oil level sensor. I have seen it enabled by dafualt on some new dash inserts and it requires a basic setting adaption of the dash insert to disable it.

I'd be surprised if that was the root of your mpg issues.

I am a very very careful driver, and I am struggling to get 400 miles to a tank full (3 click full). Before on my other octavia II ( same engine, trim level, except new 1 is an estate) I could easily get 500, 550 to a tank full. I have set routes I drive cant understand my mpg. Both service manager and skoda customer services have said persist with it, it should get better. New car had 5800 miles on the clock it now has 6800, and I have filled up twice plus the half a tank that was in the car when I got it? Do you have any ideas VRSTU regarding this problem.

Come on guys, anyone any ideas? pleeeeeeeease

What is your indicated mpg on the trip computer?

We have a 140 Tdi and tbh it was pants until it his 20k miles, now it just about sees 50mpg when driven carefully. Before that is was late 30's early 40's.

Indicated mpg on the trip computer is 35 ish mpg stage 1 and it is exactly the same on stage 2. On my old octavia II stage 2 always was 10mpg more than stage 1 trip computer? So if 1 was showing 45mpg, 2 would show 55mpg. Any ideas stu

For a start you need to understand the trip computer. It is broken down into 1 and 2.

Within that you have an actual and cumulative. With 2 it stores the data until reset whereas 1 resets after a short period of inactivity.

I know that Stu, but why is 2 always exactly the same as 1. Even when I do a 30 minute journey 1 may say 35 and so does 2, but then I leave the car for an hour or so do another 30 minute or so journey in built up traffic and get 24 on stage 1 and 2 reads exactly the same? Any ideas

I don't know, I'm afraid I can't answer your question.

It sounds suspiciously like trip 2 is not holding it's memory?

Trip 1 will reset to zero after 2hrs IIRC of the ignition being off, whereas trip 2 should hold the figure until you reset it.

Try starting the car in the morning and see what the figures are trip 1 will be zero, but trip 2 should still read the average fuel consumption since it was last reset.
