windscreen freezes in the inside

Featured Replies

I love my skoda, except for one problem.

when it is cold the inside of the windscreen freezes even to the point where the inside is frozen even when the outside isn't. i have checked all the seals,windows,doors boot but found nothing untoward. i had it serviced recently and got them to change the air filter as i had been told this could be the cause but it has made no difference. what is even more annoying is the carpets and the boot are bone dry.

Any ideas would be gratefully received

yes, sorry when i had it serviced i had both the air and pollen filters changed but the problem still persists

Just a thought but do you have a sunroof?

I had this problem with my car when we had the cold weather not so long ago on a couple of mornings, damn frustrating too! All of the ice would melt, and cover the dash in water! I just put it down to dampness being in the car, and ive since sealed the rear doors. However if you are saying your carpets are bone dry, there maybe still some moisture in your car which is causing this to happen.

The weather is getting warmer at the moment so im not so bothered!

There is moisture left in the car 100%. When it is warmer, park your car on a sunny spot and leave one of the windows slightly down so it can evaporate.

Good call. I've also noticed that cars with air conditioning are more prone to this than non-air con models.

Polish inside glass with IPA or Nil-Glass, job done. Also shut heater vents at night.

How is polishing my windscreen with beer going to do anything other than make my car smell like a brewery? :confused:

IPA = isopropyl alcohol

IPA = Happy Rob!.... Mmmmmmm Indian Pale Ale!...

I've been to the Green King Brewery, they do everything the old traditional ways still! Scrumptious! :)

Think if my Furby smelt like that it'd be quite nice... well, for a minute or so!

cleaning the inside will cut down a lot on moisture sticking to the glass, it doesnt stick as easily to a clean screen

Exactly Rob; my best friend is a university lecturer in chemistry (ok and a member of CAMRA), and if you say IPA to either of us, our first thought is "India Pale Ale".
