HELP! multichanger octy2

Featured Replies

Just bought a 57 plate vrs with the multichanger in the boot

Its not working, so thought I'd take it out and see if the fuse had blown- but how does it come out

I thought perhaps the front fascia surround comes off to get the keys down each side- but that doesnt want to come off

doesnt seem to be anything obvious holding it in, cant get the frame out either, and can't get to the plug connection

So bit of a 'mare really

any advice welcome

Should still under warrentee so get back to the dealer and let them sort it

What isnt working?

Are you set to the changer, or in dash CD? Any error codes?

I think the way to get it out is using the audi radio removal keys where the end is shaped like an anteaters snout

They must fit into the 2 horizontal slots on the facia plate

My brother in law has an audi a4- think he has the same changer so will blag the keys off him

The unit isnt working, and the head unit says no changer is connected

I should have tried it before fitting the hands free kit as perhaps it doesnt work with the telemute lead to the head unit

Thanks for replies thus far

it proberbly is the telemute lead. I would take out the headunit, remove the telemute adapter and try the quadlock straight into the headunit and see if it works then. I very much dought the issue will be at the changer end.

I have an external phone kit fitted in my car, but didnt use a telemute thingy. I have my kit wired direct into the appropriate quadlock pins, with the kits mute and audio routed through the connection. The phone kit audio is sent through the headunit to the cars speaker system, even with the headunit off. With the HU off and you get an incoming call the stereo powers on in phone mode for the duation of the call.

My guess is the telemute kit will need the changer connector transferring over from the original quadlock as they don't patch the signal through as I understand it (I had the same problem with my Parrott)

that sounds like that could be the problem- will take the radio out and have a shufti

Thanks a lot

Mike

These universal leads are renowned for not making the correct connections.

Well I emailed autoleads today and give them credit they responded straight away- got the changer out using the european radio keys ( £4 from Halfrauds )

Will take the HU out at the weekend- hopefully can do it without taking the glovebox out as had huge problems stuffing all the gubbins behind it and replacing it last time

Nothing is straightforward with these new fangled cars these days

Hello Mike

Yes, if you simply unplug the changer connection from the base of the vehicle Quadlock (that was originally connected to your stereo) and transfer this block into the open port of the telemute that is now in contact with your stereo.

Kind regards

For a few £ you can buy the correct connector and lead to mute yourself, and route through as per Manny.

Didnt take me long to do.

everything works fine apart from the changer- i specifically wanted a telemute as i dont have to mess with the cars loom

So hopefully just a matter of unpluuging the cd changer minipolug andplugging in at the HU

thanks for hel;p
