What is the gearbox oil specification in an octy 02 plate.

I used some fucs semi-sync stuff..... got it from Part Co. Just went in told then what engine I had, and did it that way. Tried phoning a couple of dealers who did not know the spec, or even how much I needed.

I also used fuchs semi synthetic too but it is the minimum spec. you should use 2 litres of 75W/90 synthetic. Genuine VAG gearbox oil is reputed to be one of the best.

I used Castrol TAF-X 75w 90 Synthetic which is reputed to be the stuff that VAG rebrand as their own. It also has the following VAG spec VW 501 50.

Fully Synthetic 75w-90 approx 2L in a TDI 110.

Make sure you undo the filler before you drain it as these can get stuck and if you've drained it then you're stuck.

Millers TRX Synthetic 75w-90 is what I used when I had a MK I TDI

I had to make a tool to help me undo my drain and filling plug holes.. Essentially a bolt with the correct sized head, and when welded on a nut on the end, and then used my socket set on it.

Make sure you undo the filler before you drain it as these can get stuck and if you've drained it then you're stuck.

Sounds like common sense doesn't it but the amount of people that have drained it first and thought Oh :dung: when they can't get the filler off My filler was solid and took some real effort to loosen. TIP: A little copper grease on the threads before refitting will make it easier in future

In my experience the best one is motul motyl gear 75w-90. Tried a few oils and that one made the smoothest shifts.
