Dont you have to extract the movie from the .rar file using winrar? http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar380.exe

Youll probably get an AVI when you uncompress it.

I was going to say .rar is just another way of zipping a file up. When unzipped it will be a movie file of some descrption.

I wonder what kit has been downloading? :naughty:

If your downloading .RAR files, then a good app to have is Quickpar to repair any broken or mising files.

yes.. anything thats a RAR file is basically a zip.

You open the rar in either Winrar or 7zip (i prefer 7zip coz its free) and then extract it somewhere.

However, if within the RAR is another rar and a password generator program, then delete it all... the password generator is a virus/trojan, and unfortunately its getting more common

Install winrar, right click your rar file and select "Extract here" or similar, bingo.

Just for future reference, VLC Media Player is extremely useful as it plays almost all Video files.

Download Dziobas RAR Player 0.009.38

But - in general you need to extract all the files from within the RAR archives.

For this there is WinRAR, Winzip, 7-zip (freeware) and many other unzippers / extractors.

If downloading a movie file which is split into RAR files then you can (if it isn't password protected, and if each unpacked file doesn't yield some 45 small RAR files - some do) unpack part of it and watch that part using KM Player or VLC player (both freeware, both very good). I do this sometimes to check on the quality before continuing downloading the remaining RAR files.

To save out the movie you will however need to unpack all the RAR archives.

Use Winrar, and just double click one of the stacked books icons, should open up and decompress then.

Grab 7Zip, damn ... Colgod beat me to it, one of the best zipping / rar'ing utils around
