Retaining Screw at the back of the headlight

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if the retainign screw (the black threadede piece) at the back of the headlight (white nut screws onto) should be screwed fully into the headlight so the shoulder is tight to the headlight? or if it is adjusted to make the headlight fit better? Mine are not screwed in all the way.

Thanks

Screw the white nut up finger tight and thats it

As Skippy41 says the nuts should be tight as they only retain the headlight unit.

Thanks guys, but its not whatI am asking about. Its the black threaded bit and if it should be screwed in all the way or not into the headlight so that the shoulder is tight against the back of the light fitting.

Its hard to explain but hope you know what I on about

Thanks

I think thats an adjustment screw. Sometimes the black screw starts to come undone when you remove the white nut as I found out, hence the hex piece on the end of it to put a spanner. The shoulder of my black screw is sitting about 5mm off the back of the headlight casing and my lights are perfectly adusted.

Hope this helps.

it is an adjustment screw....

Just had a quick look at the unit. The white outer nylon nut is the retaining nut, which should be tight. The threaded hex headed stud that it screws onto is the piece you have which is loose. I would not expect that to be an adjuster because you could alter it when tightening the screw.

I think its for adjusting the headlight alignment with the rest of the surrounding body work (bumper bonnet) If I'm correct?

While undoing the white plastic screw to replace my main beam,

the black one went away and messed up all the height alignment....

I wonder why it was not fixed with a dab of glue.
