Its a bast**d, honest!

You will be suprised how good that square edge of a credit card is, and the good ole WD40 is a great degreaser/cleaner. For that reson I would never use it on any of my mountain bikes, GT85 is the prefered light lube and Finishline wet lube for the chain ect.

Cheers

yeah. I heard that GT85 is good due to the Teflon in it. The last time I used the edge of a credit card it was to apply some plaster/filler stuff to cover nails holes in some plasterboard. It was good for that. I reckon I'd better get some lube on my bike if I'm going to start using it regularly again (You wouldn't believe just how buried the bike-rack is in the garage)

Sounds good, who make these products, where do you find them???

Thanks

GT85 can be bought in Halfords, I seem to recall. The chain lube I think I'll leave to Kent to divulge the wherabouts :D hope you don't mind...

You can get both in Halfords, or any decent cycle shop.

I never use dry lubes even in the summer as they dont protect the chain and rings properly...a costly option, unless your running a sponsored bike then you wont care anyway.

If you want to make that bike of yours look new then wash it with the X-lite Muck Away then apply the X-lite Bike Spray to repel the water and give it a fantastic finish, leaving only the job of lubing up. Just remember tho that the Muck Away has a de-greasing element to it, so be warned.

Tip - if ever you want to remove any sticker from a car window - just use brand new Stanley knife blades the longer ones - and press hard with the blade against the glass. As long as you're careful not to slice your pinkies off, the sticker just comes away like it was meant to.

Done all my unwanted's over the past 20 years using that method.

ps if you remove the Honest sticker from your Skoda it will make it easier to identify in the Speed Camera photo when you claim it must have been a clone officer!!

Just thinking ahead..............

Doesn,t removing the "It's a Skoda honest" sticker invalidate your warranty?

Must agree with Studioman , used a single edged razor blade scraper on mine - came off with no trouble at all .

Another vote for WD40 to remove any glue left behind by the sticker / transfer

But surely you cant use a stanley blade when the glass has an internal curvature or demister element very close or in contact with the sticker? Wont you just scratch the glass or damage the element no matter how careful you try to be?

I think I will stick to the credit card type thingy for any I need to remove, and if the offending sticker is that difficult then the use of a hairdryer to soften said sticker would be applied...again never fails.

Cheers

Got a good anagram that I think would look good on the back of your octavia, Nick. It's as follows:

OK! a honest sadist

??? - perhaps not, eh? :D

I admit to only have read a couple of the posts above, but in my 4x4's driver's manual, is explicitly stated that the large 4x4 sticker (or equivalent factory fitted - presumed the "... Honest" is one of those) in the rear window should only be removed in the dealer using a special method. I asked my local dealer (my car didn't have the sticker but for the sake of argument) and he said that he would do it for free in under 5' (i.e while you wait).

Well, my "special method" did the trick just about - just need to some cleaning up of the gunk now. When the stickers were coming off, they didn't seem to be leaving any residue behind - This only happened when I couldn't get a "peel" going, and I ended up hacking the whole sticker off with the kitchen knife.

Sounds like your local dealer is quite good, otheos. I suspect mine would have wanted me to book in the car, etc. Plus, its also a pain for me to get to the dealer as its on the opposite side of Exeter from where I work. :( I'm itching to get the Briskoda sticker to put in the "honest"'s place (still not got it )

Looks like I accidently followed "Otheos" suggested route.

When I brought my Fabia, during the negotiation's I tould the dealer that they had to remove the "honesty" sticker as part of the sale. Other than the "Oh - I've never been asked that before" statement, they were more than happy to carry out my request/instruction.

This thread has re-assured me that in the end, I wasn't thinking to much after all...

The space left has now been filled by a nice "briskoda.net" thingy...

The "briskoda.net" sticker would be very nice on my 4x4. To bad I can't order one (me being in GR).

the day when the vrs arrives, if i spoke to the skoda dealer over the phone and asked for them to remove the sticker-would they?

As I said in my note - it worked for me and after all, they can only say no cant they...

If a Skoda dealer moaned about removing a sticker, when the sale of a vRS was at stake, thats just bad business. If it was a top-of-the-range GPS system, then thats a different matter. As it happens the weather was a bit crap at the weekend, so the bits from my sticker removal attempt are still there. I'm going to have to spend several hours and valet the car inside and out.
