Megs Wheel Brightener

Featured Replies

I've been using Megs Wheel Brightener for a few months now and I've noticed that its leaving an orange mess on my brakes discs. I've diluted it down (4 parts water to 1 part cleaner) and it cleans most of the crap off the wheels, yet I'm concerned about the orange mess and whether its doing my discs any good?

I had a problem recently with the brakes grinding, but after some advice on here (heavy braking for a bit), it seems to have stopped. I put this down to the amount of salt and muck that has been on the roads over the last few months, but it could also be down to the wheel cleaner, as I haven't used it recently.

I drive a lot on the motorway, so I get a big build up of brake dust, can anyone recomend a wheel wax to use once the wheels have been cleaned, so that I don't have to continually use the Megs Wheel cleaner.

Thanks

Autoglym Super Resin Polish followed by Megs NXT final touch. Pressure washer just blasts the muck off after that.

Jetseal to protect the wheels, and Billberry wheel cleaner to clean them with.

Rimwax is also good.

Chemical Guy's Wheel Guard and Poorboys Wheel Sealant.

Both good, both smell nice too.

Firstly Megs Wheel Brightner is fine on your discs so don't panic...........

Secondly Jetseal 109 is the best IMHO and works best if you remove each wheel and apply 2 coats inside and out...........

That's called rust...it isn't anything to worry about.

I dont think theres anything you can do about the rust on your discs, I use Poor Boys wheel sealant on the rims which works well for me. I agree the rust is annoying especially when you have grooved and dimpled discs as you cant get rid of it by simply braking.
