Bulb Warning Light on Dash

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any problems with the bulb blown warning light coming on randomly ? I have only had my Vrs for two weeks .. came on twice on second day going out both times. Have checked lights and brake lights and all seems ok ? Yesterday came on and stayed on for ages stopped and looked and all seems ok again. Today was coming and going a number of times but when I look at the bulbs they seem ok ... I didn't have the main lights on so think this must be connected to the brake lights but it doesn't seem to come on when I am braking !

Has anyone else had a similar probelm ... I am going to change both rear brake lights and see if the probelm goes away .. only I don't want to let the dealer loose on it !!

Must be a new feature, havent seen a check package on the Fabia vRS yet, cool.

Before spending money on bulbs, it could be a faulty sensor somewhere.

My previous octy had a faulty sensor on the on the brake pedal causing the ignition coil light to come on and stay on.

I would suggest you take it back to the dealer as it is only 2 weeks old.

( don't you just love teething problems, :( )

They dont really have a sensor for bulbs, it just looks at voltages in the system and works out if there is a bulb not working (i.e less resistance to current flow through the lighting circuit).

Just a quick question, if there is a voltage drop in the circuit, wouldnt there be some sort of sensor to register and activate the blown bulb warning ?

Wot about a dickie connection to one of the bulbs ?

Steve

The sensor is the bulb failure module, I guess it could be a fault with the unit but its more than likely a loose bulb if they are all working. And as sugested i' check the brake light bulbs first.

I seem to recall Autocar running a Fabia vRS which had the same problems. I think it ended up being one of the high level break light LEDs having gone or something else along those lines. Get someone to look that the back of the car as you pump the breaks on and off a few times.

I have noticed that one of my number plate bulbs is coming and going, may be worth checking.

I had a headlamp bulb go and that came on. As it was not too dark I wondered what the hell it was as I was driving along. Good feature to have IMO

Having seen that Jeff's vRS has this function I decided it couldnt be a new feature. Just checked my car and yes it has a bulb failure warning system, what a dumbass, nowt like product knowledge eh? Dont worry you Skoda is safe in my hands...lol.

Time to book myself back on the convienance course me thinks.

Is this not a problem with the Fabia manual ?

I can never work out which features are on the vRS and which are on other models.

My manual states as having it, and it does I just pulled out a brake bulb...lol

Trouble is traditional bulb failure systems on VAG cars come on with the ignition and self check, the Fabia one doesnt do this, so until a bulb goes you may not realise it has this rather nifty feature :)

mine came on yesterday for the first time. brake light bulb gone. i wondered what it was was at first. not bad 23000 miles before i change a bulb.

I have now checked both brake bulbs in the back, bent the contacts a bit to make a better contact with the bulbs and infact replaced one .. just in case, the plan is to then replace the bulb on the other side and if that doesn't solve the problem it must be the high level light. I tried to see how easy it is to get to this ... has anyone else tried, does the centre trim section just pop off ?

I would prefer to do this myself and check all wires etc rather than let the local garage get its hands on my car .... the less time spent in a dealers workshop the better as I have always found NO-ONE is ever careful with your car (ie, oil on the front mats, scuff marks up door trims, dinks on car doors etc etc !)

Just driven for an hour without the light coming on so fingers crossed, but then it hadn't been on for 7 days before and then it was on and off about half a dozen times !

This came on again this morning twice whilst driving .... after four days of not happening. Was on for about 2 secs each time and then went out ...

I think it could well be the High Level Brake Light ... how can you get to this has anyone got any ideas ? Do you just pop the trim off ? Can this easily be replaced ?

I'm pretty sure in the manual it says that it is a dealer job.
