1975 Triumph Stag

Featured Replies

 Mate has one, in really good condition. Was out in the back of it yesterday late afternoon, top down, bit draughty, love the V8 noise (had the Rover conversion already) and felt smooth. A bit of motoring nostalgia.

Yep , lovely looking cars those. Just a shame the Triumph engines were so bad.

My dad had a far less exotic Triumph 2500 when I was younger - still a nice car though.

rust bucket BL shlte

One of my favourite cars.

Has it got the Rover V8 or the original troublesome Triumph V8?

Does that answer you? :)

Very nice, one of my favourites too :)

Niiiiiiiiice. If only I had the garage space for a week end toy...................

Nice , but I'd still only buy one with the Triumph V8 in it.

That must have been a tough decision for Triumph, shall we put a tried & tested Rover V8 in the Stag, or shall we weld two 4 cylinder Triumph engines together and make our own? The politics of BL in those days let them make their own V8.

This is why the car was known to most people as the Triumph Snag.

Nice cars when they have been sorted. Smooth power delivery and great sound, also quite nice to drive.

Love em, this is probably the last true Man's sportscar, and they sound awesome.

Every sportscar since the Stag has been slightly effeminate in some way IMO.

Except my MX-5 which can chin your dad's pint any day of the week.

Lovely motor. Usual BL build problems at the time, but most have been sorted now: even the Triumph V8 can be reliable.

My brother-in-laws Daihatsu Copen would chin your MX5 & that Stag at the same time... :)

'Stag'. Even the name is super macho!

Lovely car.
